Healthy plant based breakfast.
A sweet treat.
A banana cake bake.
Yummy milk-free porridge.
Kids' Lunchbox inspo.
We're pretty obsessed with smoothies in this household.
What can I say? I'm pretty impressionable, particularly when it comes to anything health-wise. I want to feel and OK, look, my best and I've never felt this more since having kids because like all parents, we simply want to be strong and well for our kids, as much as ourselves.
Ok I realise it's a a BIG Hollywood-worthy TITLE, a grand old statement but it's the truth, really-changing my diet has changed my life! I know, I know, I've written about my relationship and complete and utter love affair with food a lot here (along with sharing my recipes) but hear me out (again) recently I've had an epiphany, a change of heart somewhat, a shake up in my fridge and life.
This summer has involved a whole lot of ice cream scoffing for all of us and now it's time to get back on the saddle of health and eat well again.
Changing my diet over the last few months back to a low GI way of eating-so slow releasing, healthy carbs, good quality lean protein, whole foods, dairy, fish, fruit and vegetables with treats every so often (basically MODERATION) has made me so much more smiley and I've got tonnes more energy to boot!
Nothing of course replaces healthy, seasonal food-tonnes of fruit and veg, lean meat, pulses (you get the picture) but vitamins help ensure I get everything extra I need, especially at times of sleep deprivation (always), times of PMS (oh those dreaded days come weeks) and much needed sun rays in a bottle when Blighty can't provide the real thing!
I'm not a doctor but I sure am (sadly) an expert on sleep deprivation. Give or take 4 flipping whole years of it. Don't be fooled by the picture above, they nodded off together but were soon moved to their own beds and both woke up at least twice that night. Le yawn!
