Stunning Gold and Silver Jewellery by The Jewellery Makers + Competition
The Jewellery Makers sell distinctive design-led jewellery handmade from precious metals you can purchase online and are an absolute favourite of mine (I can’t wait to purchase a piece for my 40th which will see me working with founder, jewellery designer and maker of 20 years, Emma White, on something original and personal to me).
…Designed and made by a collective of 15 artisan jewellers, The Jewellery Makers offer statement necklaces, rings and earrings you simply won’t find elsewhere are the small business is my go-to when it comes to jewellery for every occassion be it the multi metal rainbow necklace I wear daily to the silver wiggle hoop earrings my children call ‘waves’ I’ve worn many times on TV, and beyond. I simply adore it and them.
…I first met talented artist Emma in May 2018 while hosting a book tour date for MUMBOSS at the brilliant Rainbow Factory in Leeds. Emma also kindly attended the InstaMeet event I spoke at in York late last year.
Emma and I instantly clicked quickly becoming firm friends, bonding over our love of art and jewellery and understanding one another’s struggles to juggle work with raising children (Emma has three children, I have two).
Emma has become one of the few people I chat to most days via DM on Instagram, demonstrating once again, how the internet brings together like-minded creatives, allowing us to connect in a meaningful way.
Please do consider supporting this small business.
Who are the Jewellery Makers?
The Jewellery Makers is dedicated to handmade, British jewellery directly from individual designers offering quality work and a fast turnaround and connected independent jewellers to customers excited by unusual jewellery.
Each jeweller has a fascinating story to tell through their work.
Emma White’s work in silver and gold inspired by texture, poetry and family and celebrating those we love and the people and places that make us tick, Emma’s work centres around stories, the stories of the wearer who can literally have their story stamped into ribbons and silver and wound into unusual artisan jewellery pieces, while silver pebbles shout out our mantras and tell the world who we are.
Unusual techniques abound with Laura Brookes who makes silver chainmaille jewellery and Evie Milo, ‘The Spoon Lady’ who recycles silver teaspoons into something new and wearable.
Alice Chandler delivers fresh and fun designs in silver whilst Sara Bukumunhe’s ‘Sewn-Up’ range, combines pebble shaped and textured pieces with coloured quartz stitches.
Emma said: ‘As a maker myself, and with over twenty years experience in the trade, I could see we were stronger working together to market our work rather than individually. Jewellery is my passion and my specialism so it makes complete sense to focus 100 per cent on selling stunning pieces via the website. We aim to become the first stop for customers who are specifically looking for distinctive and unusual high quality handmade jewellery with the bonus of supporting small independent businesses.’
The pieces here were kindly gifted to me by Emma over the past few years and have become treasured items to me. They are all imbued with personal meaning, marking milestones in my life and career as well as representing my greatest loves: my children.
Elegant, hand crafted and exquisitely well made, these pieces will become family heirlooms my children will inherit and will pass on to their own children.
