With Storm Dora battering on my window as I write it this, it’s hard to imagine that spring is almost upon us, but I’m already planning my spring/summer wardrobe so take that you windy witch.
So what exactly are next season’s biggest trends? The 80s are back in a big way for sure and when I say big I mean BIG like my bouncy locks HUGE. Get ready to pump up the volume on everything from your shoulders down with frills, bling and lamé a go go. Colour palettes are bright and prints are bold (think head to toe vibrant florals and seaside inspired stripes) and most importantly, when it comes to styling your outfits, there’s no rules (yay) with the catwalks full of mix and match outfits designed to bring out the fashionista in all of us.
If your signature style is more subtle however, fear not. Minimalism is also a key trend this season with clean, chic cuts and light fabrics in neutral and pastel hues.
The high-street is full of the most incredible clothes right now, guaranteeing that spring 2017 will be a helluva stylish season. Here are just a few of my favourite picks from the high street that have my name stamped all over them.
Meadow Dress, & Other Stories, £98
Go bright and bold my babes, in this stunning maxi dress from & Other Stories. I love the whimsical frill around the neck and bohemian cut – perfect for the warm summer evenings that are heading our way. You hear that Dora.
Ruffled blouse, H&M, £34.99
I’m all about the frill this season and can’t get enough of this deliciously pink delight from H&M. Pair with your favourite skinnies and open-toe chunky sandals for pretty summer style.
Full sleeved blazer, Zara, £89.99
Nothing says 80s style like the double-breasted power blazer. A jacket like this requires big hair and an even bigger personality. Tick and tick!
Lamé Asymmetric Skirt by Boutique, Topshop, £95
Shine bright like a diamond in this shimmery lamé number I adore. I regularly profess my deep love for Topshop here on the blog and once again they are always two steps ahead in the fashion stakes, with this skirt.
Kimono-sleeve belted dress, Cos, £79
The perfect dress to take you straight from work to the cocktail bar. The loose belt cinches you in at the waist making it incredibly flattering, while the soft grey hue works for most skin tones.
Pink stripe wide leg culottes, River Island, £38
Stripes are the print du jour this season and these wide leg culottes would work well with a simple black long sleeved tee and a long cardigan. Pyjama style has never been so cool!
Stripe Ruffle One Shoulder Mini Dress, ASOS, £32
More stripey delights! This dress makes me want to be beside the sea side with a 99p ice-cream in hand and the summer sun beating down on my face. Hurry up summer!
