The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Royal Baby

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

So a year and a half since the wedding of the century, Kate and Wills have announced via St James Palace that they’re expecting a baby- ‘a third in line to the throne royal baby’ no less- what happy news! It’s weirdly making me all broody despite having a 10 week old (I’m blaming the hormones and my babymoon bliss) and if it’s affecting me, it will no doubt inspire many others to get procreating as us Brits (and the rest of the world) get totally and utterly swept up in baby fever!

Poor Kate has been admitted to hospital with hyperemesis gravidaruma (a rare condition that is thought to affect no more than 2% of pregnant women), often lasting beyond 21 weeks, it causes severe nausea and vomiting which can lead to malnutrition and dehydration.

I totally empathise with her as I was terribly sick with my first for 7 whole months! My second pregnancy was totally different thankfully with not a sick bucket in sight which goes to prove that every pregnancy can be different. It seems Kate hasn’t yet passed the 12 week stage but due to her admission, the palace  announced it. It’s strange to think her unborn child will be in the same year at school as my baby son Alexander.

Get well soon Kate and let’s hope the Royal law will be amended in time, allowing a potential first born daughter to accede to the throne.

…So are you all excited about the baby too? It will be all we’ll read, see and hear about for the next 6 or so months and I for one, can’t wait! Roll on maternity fashion/baby name guessing and utter British baby ballistic hysteria!
