straight hair

Review Of L’Oreal Professional Steampod & Competition to Win One Worth £170

Even with two kids to look after and a crazy busy blogging career, I always find time to style my hair! It’s pretty high maintenance so there’s no option there and you know what, my hair is my thing, I reckon.

I love experimenting with new styles –  from glamorous Hollywood waves to glossy straight locks and everything in between.

I’ve even been known to rock a ‘crimp’ back in my youth!

Naturally, my hair is wavy, very thick and can be prone to frizz without lots of silky serum-also, I’m asked this a lot and no I don’t have hair extensions. It’s 100% natural baby! (Bar a few subtle highlights)!

I had straight hair up until the age of 13 when the hormones kicked in and so did the curls! So I still have a natural affinity to straight hair and often style my hair as such.

As you can imagine with such thick hair, straightening is no easy task and can take up to an hour, and let’s just say that ‘dry hair + electrical appliances’ is most definitely NOT a match made in heaven for keeping locks nourished.

I’m always on the look out for the ‘perfect hair straighteners’, one’s that will straighten my hair with ease, leaving me with lustrous but most importantly healthy locks.

So when I was contacted by L’Oreal Professional to review their new Steampod straighteners , I couldn’t wait to test them out.

So what is the L’Oreal Professional Steampod?

Well in the words of Jennifer Aniston, ‘here comes the science bit…’

As the name suggests, the key element is steam, which provides a gentle innovative heat action whilst minimising heat damage to the hair. The steam technology is combined with long-lasting anodized floating plates which provide even pressure and smoothing effect from the roots to ends, enhancing hair’s natural movement.

If like me, you’re a fan of salon blow dries (or blow outs to my American readers) then the Steampod is for you! It’s salon style hair achieved at home.

Here’s how, step by step-

Pre straightening with curls-

I then washed and conditioned my hair and applied the cream (‘dual action smoothing cream fiber restoring’), brushed it gently and then blow dried it thoroughly.

You must only use the straighteners on dry hair.

The water section of the Steampod (which is connected to the straightener by a long wire, and secures easily and firmly onto a table) reminded me of filling up an iron- you simply add water then plug the appliance in.

I like that the appliances is two sections but one overall appliance too.

I then set about straightening my hair which took around 25 minutes in total-brilliant with my long locks.

At the end, I added the smoothing serum (‘protecting concentrate beautifying ends’) to the ends of my hair which helps the look last for 3 days. And boy, did it last.

My hair has honestly never felt smoother, I love how kind the steam was to my hair creating a soft to the touch, totally frizz free mane.

This appliance works better than any I’ve ever tried before. Fact.

I couldn’t recommend it more.
