Review of Game Builder Garaage on the Nintendo Switch

I’m officially the world’s best mum as my boys were kindly gifted a Nintendo Switch and the new Game Builder Garage to celebrate its physical launch on September 10th.

Game Builder Garage features interactive lessons on how to build games, allowing anyone to learn the fundamental concepts of video game creation in a fun and acccessible way thanks to its step by step guidance and quirky characters.

Users can put everything they’ve learnt into practice and create their own unique games in the Free Programming mode which can then be shared with family and friends (or even to wow your computer teacher).

The game is engaging, fun and educational (without the kids even realising they’re learning) and is perfect for Beginners. Ideal for 7+, my kids played it together but this can be enjoyed solo or by parents and kids together.

Teaching the basics of programming, Game Builder Garage will inspire the next generation of IT whizzes for sure.

If your child ever wanted to make their own 3D platformer, high-speed racing game, or side-scrolling alien blaster, then this is the game for them!

You’re walked through lessons by characters Bob and Alice who kick you off with the basics of programming, helping you as you reach more advanced levels. You’re also provided with cute and agile Nodon characters you can manipulate to move and carry out actions for you and once you pair them up, the game begins to come to life.

Colourful, vibrant and entertaining, my kids spent all of their tech time allowance (2 hours on a weekend) playing this and loved every minute.

Xander, 8, said, ‘The game is fun and creative and you can make lots of different games’.

Oliver, 11, said, ‘ It was enjoyable, I liked how easy it was to use so you can build games quickly’.

So fun!

The Nintendo Switch and game were gifted but as always, my words are honest.
