All the women who are independent…Throw your hands up!

I’ve always been a huge fan of Queen Bey. I mean who isn’t, right?! If you’re shaking your head right now, then this blog isn’t for you!

Seriously, I distinctly remember (despite the drink) as a 19 year old student, booty shaking my way around nightclubs to Independent Women, thinking, ‘yes, that’s me, I’m an independent-kinda girl, sure I have a student loan and don’t own a house (yet) but one day’ and low and behold it happened. And this independent woman found an independent feminist man to marry too.

Good times. Peter my very own Jay Z.

And Bey, she’s continued to inspire me since. From her kick-ass, empowering song lyrics to her awe-inspiring work mantra, dedication to motherhood and sheer raw talent, she’s my kind of role model.

She embodies modern feminism to a tee (literally), is one gifted gal, promotes wholesome values, is charitable, supports the LGBT community, advocated a healthy body image, and diversity and doesn’t take herself too seriously…Oh and MOST IMPORTANTLY, she’s mastered the hair flick to a T! Go Bey!

Oh and taking on her alter ego Sacha Fierce in shamanistic proportions makes me feel I can do the same be it handling my kids or speaking to audiences of hundreds. Thanks B!

…I often tweet Beyoncé quotes so thought it was high time to share her wisdom in more than just 140 characters. Respect where respect is due, right?!

Now go channel your inner Beyoncé and feel (Sasha) fierce.

beyone quote

‘Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.’

beyonce quotes empowering

‘I can never be safe; I always try and go against the grain. As soon as I accomplish one thing, I just set a higher goal. That’s how I’ve gotten to where I am.’

beyonce empowering quote

‘If everything was perfect, you would never learn and you would never grow.’

beyonce quote

‘The reality is: sometimes you lose. And you’re never too good to lose. You’re never too big to lose. You’re never too smart to lose. It happens.’

beyonce role model

‘I guess I am a modern-day feminist. I do believe in equality. Why do you have to choose what type of woman you are? Why do you have to label yourself anything?’

quotes by beyonce

‘I felt like it was time to set up my future, so I set a goal. My goal was independence.’

I’d love to hear your favourite Queen Bey quotes in the comments!
