Vicki-Honest Mum

We’ve all experienced those #ItHappens moments in life! You know the sort…you’re just meandering along, getting on with life and then boom, disaster strikes.

That DIY project goes haywire, you spill coffee all over your laptop or you suddenly realise your wedding ring is M.I.A.

It Happens!

It’s life’s unexpected accidents that make it so important to protect your world and prepare for the unexpected with the right home and contents insurance.

I’ve teamed up with leading insurance provider MORE TH>N to share my very own #Ithappens moments and raise awareness of the 6 million Brits currently undervaluing their home and contents insurance.

Are you one of them?

It’s vital you protect your possessions, as I discovered recently when I lost my all time favourite diamond necklace whilst at home.

Gutted doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt…

I literally tore the house apart looking for it.. Carpets were lifted and there wasn’t a single piece of furniture that remained unmoved.

It was nowhere to be found and I’m still baffled to this day as to where it went.

Luckily, I had contents insurance and was able to replace the necklace.

Just knowing that it was covered brought piece of mind (during the carpet removal).

It was the first time I’d ever lost anything of such value and I was so grateful for having insurance in place.

Being covered is crucial.

Another #ItHappens moment occurred many years ago when my husband Peter and I rented in London before buying, and a mini-heater burnt an irreparable hole in the living room carpet.

Needless to say that our landlord was NOT happy and we didn’t get our deposit back.

Home disasters happen in all shapes and sizes and usually they’re totally beyond your control.

For example, Peter and I own a second flat in Leeds as well as our home and one day we received a call to say that the pipes had become blocked as someone from the flat above was throwing baby wipes down their toilet.

It would have cost a fortune to fix if we hadn’t have had home insurance, which fortunately we had.

You can hear more about these #Ithappens moments in this video I’ve made below:

MORE TH>N offers one of the most comprehensive home and content insurance packages in the UK with up to £100k contents covers as standard and £1m on buildings cover.

There is also a free 24/7 helpline so you can resolve any issues immediately, whilst their personal possession cover even protects items that you take out of the home.

For more information on their insurance policies head to the MORE TH>N website.

I’m also on their website HERE.

Oh those moments we all dread!!! Yep Insurance saved the day when a very young Harry and I made it home in the Uk’s biggest snowfall only to squelch our way across the kitchen and lounge! Nightmare but thank God for insurance!

We’ve always had home insurance in case something happens, but luckily haven’t had to claim yet. There has been a few disasters though, the one that springs to mind is putting a ladder through our ceiling when we were decorating!

Vicki this is SO true! I lost my mobile phone on holiday last year in Spain and ended up having to basically replace it immediately as I need it for work (as I know you do!). Having the peace of mind that you’ve covered is so helpful – although my loss can’t really compare with your diamond necklace – eeek! Thanks so much for sharing this and loved your video xx

Thanks Michelle, so glad you were insured, I left my phone in Debenhams in Wales last week and I’d only had it for a week! Luckily it was there when I realised and went back. Insurance is so key. So glad you liked the video, thank you x

So true – things happen. I remember around 9 years ago Richard and I bought this absolutely stunning antique sofa with a white seat in India and had it shipped back to the UK. A few weeks later my brother visited from NYC and spilled a large glass of wine over the seat (we’ve only just started talking to him again 😉 . It couldn’t be cleaned or replaced but we had insurance and were able to replace with something else. It does give you peace of mind and that’s worth a lot. xx

Oh gosh this speaks directly to me. I don’t know if you remember my whole Macbook Air orange juice disaster? Yeah never have I wished more that I’d sorted out contents insurance so that I could replace it. What a painful experience, although of course moved on since then. Some things can’t be replaced, but good to stay protected where you can. Very glad you were able to get another necklace, and thanks for letting me know about More Th>N insurance. Very useful, checking it out now!
