So Tuesday was a rather exciting day! Thanks to John at Dad Blog UK‘s recommendation, I was invited to Sky TV to film an edited version of my post on the Imposter Syndrome for ‘Morning Stories’ a series on Sky News where academics, bloggers and media experts share their opinions on all manner of topics from politics to well-being and beyond.
The piece which I wrote and presented was shown twice on Wednesday am at 6.40 and 8.40 and also advertised too. You can watch it on Sky’s site HERE.
It was a real honour to share my thoughts on why women can so often feel like fakes, myself included. I hope it will encourage and inspire viewers to feel more confident about their kick-ass selves!
You can read my full blog post HERE I took the extract from.
It was a real privilege, and so much FUN (in caps) working with Cara the producer and the super crew, such a warm, friendly bunch who made me feel totally at ease.
So back to the beginning, on arrival at Sky, I was dashed into make up where my nose was powdered (a little more) because I turned up in full make up naturally(!) and my eye line flick was perfected before heading to the studio.
I did one read through and we were off filming 3 takes in different shot sizes for their edit.
I love the buzz of TV and pre-records are relaxing compared to live TV as you know any stumbles on words can just be re shot.
My work as a former TV director and filmmaker invariably helps me feel pretty fearless (for the most part) when shooting and I love how my career as a full time blogger connects me with my previous world, although I’m mostly in front of the camera these days!
The piece was broadcast on Sky News on Wednesday morning (24th February) twice and is now on Sky’s homepage.
After the filming was done, I had a quick tour of Sky and then popped over to the amazing L’ETO in Belgravia for a long, delicious lunch where I could make my deadlines in style.
Next door is the most romantic florists I’ve ever set my eyes on. #Flowergoals. Just divine.
Then it was off to an exciting style meeting at achingly cool The Belgraves Hotel with Rey from Reward Style (more on that to come).
One of those pinch yourself kind of days.
Do not miss the vlog of my day. It might just be my favourite vlogs of all time!
Hope you enjoyed the piece

I loved loved loved watching this – you are such a pro on both sides of the camera! So exciting that you got to see how they do everything on both sides. That florist is a beautiful find, I love finding quirky hidden gems too 🙂 PS I just saw your Sports Relief news too – that is AMAZING well done lady! x x #brilliantblogposts
Thanks sweetie, really was fascinating. As a drama director I rarely got to see galleries. I’ve directed in studios before but fabulous being in front of the camera. Thanks for all your kindness beautiful xx
Vicky – that was fantastic! How inspiring, well done lovely xcxx

Aw thanks darling, such a fun day xx
Your piece on Sky was excellent. I hadn’t actually heard of this much so will try to get to read the full post as I really relate to it. I think I swing a bit between ego-mania and feeling like a fraud too (Even as I wrote that, I had the urge to point out that obviously I have no real cause to be so confident in myself sometimes…!)Your day looks like so much fun and also – how adorable is your dad?! #brilliantblogposts
You do have every right, we all do, it’s being consistent with confidence isn’t it, thanks for your fab comment x
Congratulations! You have such a glamorous life & I love all the stuff about imposter syndrome – it’s such a fascinating topic! #brilliantblogposts
Thanks so much, not always glam promise ha! So glad you liked it x
Brilliant and very exciting, glad it all went so well 🙂
Thank you 🙂
Aw huge well done – amazing work xxx
Right on, Vicki! I love it! Love it! Love it! First, it is so neat to hear your voice for the first time. (I’m so easily made happy and entertained.) Second, I applaud your piece on Impostor Syndrome and for being on Sky News. Kudos! I am so weary of women falling for the “you aren’t as good” scenario and not only internalizing it, but repeating it. Thank you for addressing this!
Thank you so much Regina and you are so right, so important to tell ourselves and keep telling ourselves we deserve equality and success x
Goodness Vicki, you’re like a superstar of the blogging world! It must’ve been SO exciting. I would’ve crumbled into a nervous wreck if that was me, I can’t even bring myself to vlog I hate being in front of the camera so much! 🙂
Well done you. x
Haha I am not but thank you very much, what a compliment. Once you practice it becomes second nature, you would be great x
So brilliant Vicki, I loved the piece you presented such an important issue and one we all battle with! And as you know ‘they saw you in Lagos’ – I felt quite proud when my sister told me she’d watched you on Sky News. My rock star friend. Truly exciting x
Aw Uju that was the best comment ever, to read that your sister watched me, it just blew me away. Thank you Uju for being a constant inspiration, friend and guru xxx
