We had an utterly magical time @twycrosszoo last w We had an utterly magical time @twycrosszoo last weekend, experiencing their Room On The Broom Corn Maze with Halloween treats, ‘a broom ride’ and tour of The Gruffalo Discovery Land afterwards where Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s beloved books are brought to life. Set in the heart of England on the Leicestershire/Warwickshire border, Twycross Zoo is an internationally recognised conservation charity and award-winning visitor attraction, giving visitors an informative and fun day out with a difference. Twycross Zoo is also home to hundreds of animals such as orangutang, giraffes, penguins and more; outdoor play areas, splash pads, indoor soft playgrounds and special themed events like the one we were invited to last weekend!

This incredible zoo spans across 100-acres and exists to support conservation, education and research of some of the most endangered species on the planet. Thank you such a memorable visit (PR visit and complementary hotel stay). #zoo #conservation #twycross #gruffalo #halloween

I think I’m currently coming to terms with the fact I won’t be having any more babies or breastfeeding ever again (despite my gynae telling me I could have more babies if I wanted, the husband and I have closed that chapter) 😭! It’s hit me now that my third child is growing up. She’s started (a wonderful) school a!4 there’s a grief that accompanies that, especially as it’s the last time I’ll experience the milestones that come with having kids (and the dopamine release of all of the firsts: positive pregnancy tests, first words, steps, weaning and more. It’s not that I feel broody per se, more that this chapter of raising babies is over and it’s time to rediscover who I am to some extent. My children still need me, my teens in many ways more than my (almost) 5 year old. But those physically and emotionally demanding early years have come to a close. If your youngest or only child has started primary school/ infant school, you too might be on a similar emotional rollercoaster to me. I oscillate between relief that I have more time to write/work/see my friends/ practise some self care whilst simultaneously feeling a sense of loss that my youngest sidekick isn’t, well, by my side, as often 😭. A survey by Netmums of 2,000 parents found that mothers were 5 times more likely to cry than their child when they start school and despite me thinking I’d be delighted to finally have more structure to my life, that was me and the first month of school has felt tough for me.
