Primula cheese twists for Christmas

My #Mumboss Survival Tips For the Festive Season

Primula cheese

As much as I love Christmas, it can be a crazy chaotic too!

Work, ‘pardies’, family dinners, cooking up tasty dishes for everyone plus the small detail of trying to arrange the perfect Christmas for the kiddos equals INSANE pressure although it’s all worth it to see everyone happy and eating!

Who else wishes they could take the whole of January off  though and spend a month in the Caribbean?

But hold up mamas because I have an action plan to ease the stress and make Christmas as chilled as it can be with kids in tow.

Us #mumbosses deserve some fun and most importantly relaxation at Christmas too so let’s relax together.

Usually I’m an all year round perfectionist but at Christmas I’ve decided to live by the Marilyn quote of, ‘Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring’.

It’s time to embrace the chaos peeps!

So to celebrate Primula Cheese’s #LittleMomentsOfChristmasChaos campaign, I’m sharing my #mumboss survival tips for the festive season to help minimise stress and maximise fun!

1. Online shopping (for myself)

Christmas is the time of giving…by which I mean giving gifts to yourself. My current obsession is  the complete babe that is Vestaire Collective where you can find designer pieces at high street prices. Happy shopping!

2. Mulled wine…all month long (hic!)

Mulled wine is practically medicinal at Christmas and I love nothing more than a mulled wine party with canapes like these Primula cream cheese and smoked salmon twists. Delish! I’m sharing my recipe at the end of the post!

And of course don’t forget about the mince pies! There’s nothing lovelier than tasty tit bits followed by a warm mince pie and a glass of Port is there?!

3. Sending e-cards.

Ok…so this is a bit lazy I know, but it saves soooooooooo much time. And, it saves trees importantly too, so what’s not to love?! Peace and love peeps!

4. Arrange childcare in advance.

I’m a working mama, so work for a large part of the school holidays. I arrange childcare and playdates taking it in turns with mama friends and reach out to family for help too. *Thanks Mum*. Get organised early and make sure you book those busy babysitters too so you can get some nights out sorted: festive date nights and cocktails with the girls are a must at this time of year.

5. Don’t forget the ‘me’ time

All work and no play makes Vicki a dull mum, so it’s equally important to take time off when you can. I try and keep my weekends free for the family as always and schedule in proper time off over the holidays too where I can so I don’t miss out on the fun stuff. Pantomime anyone?

6. Plan Christmas day

Preparing Chrsitmas dinner is akin to a military operation plus there’s all the other stuff that goes with it-keeping relatives entertained, not missing the Queen’s speech, pink bubbles… Make sure you work out a timetable and assign each person roles so you don’t freak out in the morning. Even the kids can pitch in peeling sprouts right?

7. Work off the mince pies

I love running on a cold, crisp morning and then de-stress with yoga and mulled wine, in that order.

Now go make this delicious recipe and wow those guests of yours this Christmas:
