Ever the fashionista, I love trawling online and discovering style sites I’ve never seen before, that can feed my obsession with all thing chic, and this week the jaw-droppingly beautiful Motilo was brought to my attention.
Winner of Most Innovative Website at the Guardian Awards for Digital Innovation in 2012, you can quickly see why at first look.
A community style site, it’s a seriously stylish social marketplace allowing you to shop in real-time with your friends if you like (that communal shopping experience without the queues or effort and yet all the fun).
Fashion focused with informative features from statement pieces to wear on holiday to what would Jackie O wear today, it’s for the smart, discerning shopper with an easy to use e-commerce platform so you become inspired then buy all in one chic space.
With pretty clearly curated pieces the content is cool, vibrant and bang on trend with many classic, ageless pieces to boot! Favourite designers featured include Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney and Bottega Veneta with high street stores I love such as Whistles and Topshop offering something for everyone. A place where haute meets high street with only the select, most wanted pieces in one small space.
I’m currently coveting some cat eye sunglasses after my mother bought some beauties recently (my Mummy’s definitely got style) and Motilo have a useful and utterly chic post on how to wear this season’s sunglasses with the most perfect purple pair by Miu Miu that are on the wish list now!
For a bit of fun the site shows what innovators they are when it comes to technology and style with their tongue in cheek post on How to wear denim? assessing how Instagram filters impact your denim ensembles. They analyse how Hefe will affect white hotpants, or how Lo-Fi impacts loose-fitting boyfriend jeans…This style blogger is taking notes!
I quickly became obsessed with tracking Elle Macpherson’s beach style on their star style post, hoping ‘the Body’s’ understated little black fringed bikini and pretty gold accessories will help me get beach ready this summer! Hoping mirroring her style might help me channel her long legs (a girl can wish right)!
I adore the easy to navigate style tabs too from Latest to Editorial, Trending and Motilo Girls allowing you to browse through fashion topics, answering your style dilemmas and encouraging you to make bolder choices than if you were searching specifically for a single item (which you can do too by the way).
The site has made me more determined to opt for bright, statement lingerie and even buy a denim, fringed skirt for when I head back to the riviera later on in the year and even a denim rucksack (not sure this double or even triple denim look will be worn simultaneously but I’m sold on the separate items that’s for sure).
The site raises hypothetical style questions, answering them with compact capsule wardrobe choices making your life easier and oh so stylish. Not sure what to wear to a wedding or a long bank holiday out of town? No worries, Motilo has it covered.
An ecommerce site meets blog/ advice site meets my new obsession-I love it!
Right I’m off to plan and buy my summer wardrobe now, I might be some time…
