Monochrome Polka Dots For Parliament!

Zara Polka Dot dress

I’ve always been a huge fan of the classic monochrome polka dot print as it’s never too try-hard, just effortlessly chic plus I have touching memories of my Mum wearing the print at prominent events growing up, such as family weddings or her 40th so I love the nostalgia wearing it brings.

This Zara number got a firm thumbs up from my stylist Lauren last week, when I sent photos of various pieces I tried on in Zara last week.  The shops assistants tend to tell me everything suits me so having Lauren in my back-pocket on shopping expeditions is a necessity!

I opted for the size small which was more fitted than the medium but is more of a UK 10 than an 8 to be honest. The stretchy material affords you some material and space, although I do feel there’s always an excess material in the skirt whatever size the dress in Zara when it comes to this style (tapered at the waist and flowing at the hips).

Photos below as I try and bunch in the excess dress baggage!

…I paired it with my new red Zara blazer (medium) with bright white buttons which I’m in fact wearing as I type this up, which will take me to meetings, interviews and even a movie premiere tonight! More of that to come!

Vitally the takeaway here is forget black, the red blazer is the way to go hereon in OK!

I kept the jacket on for a morning panel on STEM and Diversity in the House of Commons last week, where I was honoured to give a speech on my career sharing my journey from TV director and filmmaker to blogging and vlogging on a platform I own that offered me the flexibility I crave as a mother.

Here I am with my manager Jack Fred (far right) and some of the other panellists including L-R:

Tamara Lohan MBE, Founder of Mr & Mrs Smith, Daniel Murray, Founder of apps Mobula and Grabble, Dr Betty Bonnardel-Azzarelli, Aerospace Engineer & Founder/CEO Aerospace consultancy, Salma Siddiqi (a Women in Tech and Women in STEM advocate and a registered Tech London advocate for women (TLA Women).

Houses of Parliament

After the busy but stimulating morning, I rushed back to Berkshire to speak at the brilliant The Business Girls Network‘s annual event which celebrates local entrepreneurial women’s success, where I spoke on mixing motherhood with business before flopping into bed at 8pm!!!

It’s a surprise I actually managed to not fall asleep in the flipping polka dot dress!
