One of the surprises this blog has offered me over the years has been the request for me to model for brands I love.
I modelled a little as a teen but my parents decided they weren’t keen so it was short-lived, and I certainly didn’t think two kids later, and in my 30’s (I’m 37 now) I’d be striking a pose again! Weird and wonderful things happen when you create a personal brand online and keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zone!
Pregnancy and childbirth shattered my body confidence truth be told (and I didn’t have much to begin with) but the recent cultural shift towards Body Positivity and Body Neutrality (the latter takes the onus and pressure off the body and is my personal favourite) has led to a greater acceptance of my own body and the life-giving miracle maker it is.
I recently re-shared a photo of myself in a bikini which went viral a few years ago to contribute to this vital conversation. We need to keep sharing our beautifully diverse bodies so we can all feel free from the limiting ideals of beauty.
So here I am sharing my body and ten Cate’s empowering pieces.
A recent break to the Cotswolds saw get into sassy swimwear by the Dutch brand and swim my little heart out (hence the beach style locks). I love their bold, bright prints and flattering cuts and felt confident and happy in all the pieces here.
I kept forgetting to hold my mum-tum in but you know me, I like to keep things real and 2 c-sections later, this tum is going nowhere so there’s no point hiding it!
Isn’t it a dreamy swimsuit?
Now, if you’ve never heard of ten Cate before, let me share their rich history with you.
Starting as a family business, Loets ten Cate founded ten Cate 1952 with a goal to bring quality to the people of Geesteren, Twente-the centre of the Dutch textile industry-and Loets and the many locals working with him built a remarkable company driven by a strong work ethic, technical innovation and reliability.
With underwear for all the family, ten Cate soon became one of the most loved brands in the Netherlands and the rest is history.
65 years on, ten Cate continue to bring quality and innovation to the market, adding swimwear and shape wear into the mix as you can see here.
I love that this swimsuit is multi-way and while I’m not a huge fan of cleavage, I channelled the cheeky Love Island vibes with a little cleavage here, and admittedly felt a bit of a sasspot in this!
I also fell for their floral two piece too.
It’s the first time I’ve worn a two set like this and I’m totally sold.
While I’m proud to wear a bikini (as my viral post testifies) and don’t hide my stretch-marked tummy, I do like choice when it comes to swimwear and regularly switch things up. This flattering and supportive tankini with bikini bottoms held me in but vitally gave my 32D chest the support it needed for a comfortable swim. These are items which don’t just look pretty, they do their job too and this set is hands-down my most favourite swimwear set ever.
With the multi-way coming a close second (I still love you boo)..
All items shown here are a UK size 10 (the brand is a little smaller than the high street though so do size up).
Now, you know my obsession with shorts under everything-so much so, I’ve even made my own DIY version with leggings I cut into shorts -well you put the scissors away because ten Cate have the perfect shorts and vest combo to wear under your fave frock or simply lounging around the house (who else makes deadlines in their underwear?)
Those shorts make for a smokin’ silhouette and with them, you no longer have to worry about revealing your knickers if your skirt or dress blows up in the mind. I’m an active mama who likes to run around with their kids so shorts under dresses is how I roll every day of the week.
They make a cute summer PJ style set too.
Giving my best Kim Kardashian poses here-ha!
And after all that posing, it’s time for a little rest!
Ok here’s one last pose for you in the blue vest.
I’m diggin’ the whole collection. Gorgeous quality, fabrics and styles, ten Cate, I’m so glad I’ve found you!
Now for the exciting bit, you can win a whopping £300 to spend on this dreamy designer brand so you tooo can enjoy their swim and shape wear. You’re welcome!
