Our Long Easter Weekend in Pictures

Easter trail

This long Easter weekend consisted of chocolate eggs and epic walks in the countryside on repeat for the whole 3 days.

Bliss.

We literally scoffed choc to our hearts’ content and burned off the zillions of calories (we hope) trudging through various (staggeringly beautiful) parks close to where we live in gorgeous Yorkshire.

It was the perfect long Easter weekend- and on May the 1st we get to do it all again for Greek Easter! Yay!

Here’s what we got up to…

Friday saw us roam around one of this family’s happy places: The Yorkshire Sculpture Park in the glorious sunshine.

With a spring in our step (get it? soz) we soaked up the vitamin D we’d been desperate for all winter and worked out by the end of the day, we’d clocked up an impressive 8000 steps. That’s at least the equivalent of 3 large Easter eggs right?!

…Fresh air, rolling hills, hot chocolate and breathtaking sculptures to feed the soul made for the perfect day.

So content we were, we forgot to take pictures. OK we took 4. I was a bad blogger that day!

Love these mama/son shots!

Saturday was pure perfection as I enjoyed baby cuddles my gorgeous 5 month nephew Zachary- and a whole lot of Nandos (me, not him, that would just be weird)!

Again a lack of pics on Saturday too-see what happens when you wiiiind down over a long weekend?!

Luckily Peter was in full force with his Canon on Sunday, getting snap-happy as we took part in a chocolatey Easter Egg hunt at the palatial Beningbrough Hall.

Mansion goals right there.

I did admittedly polish off the Cadbury’s bunnies the boys struggled to finish and let me tell you they were divine. There’s something so distinctly creamy and moorish about Easter eggs I just don’t experience in standard chocolate bars?! A magic ingredient just for Easter I reckon!

The boys loved playing games on the trail and problem solving their way round winding paths. Their/ my reward was a chocolate bunny at the end-yum!

…The playground at Beningbrough Hall is nothing short of magical-almost hidden beneath the trees, a sheltered haven for kids, the boys galloped over after the trail and spent more than an hour veering between gliding down shiny slides and riding wooden horses before building a den with branches gathered especially for the children by the staff there.

Glorious fun!

It’s rather like being in a Disney movie when you visit Beningbrough and this family couldn’t love it more.

The boys even got to meet the Easter Bunny himself at the end of the day!

And just when you thought we couldn’t eat any more, we met up with my folks for Easter dinner at the Olive Tree Headingley, one of their restaurants- diving into bowls of creamy mushroom soup followed by spicy lamb kofte and prawns with melted feta cheese!

Xander, not quite full of chocolate already, opted for dark chocolate ice cream for dessert!

Do you think he enjoyed it?

What a feast!

…Monday was dedicated to the RHS gardens Harlow Carr in Harrogate where an Easter trail with Lindt was on and we had to find the gold bunnies.

Drizzle eventually got the better of us but not before a muddy trundle in the forest and stroll among the blooms.

Aren’t the gold bunnies beautiful?!

So there you have it, a ‘sweet’ and restful Easter break.

We switched off, relaxed, ate far too much chocolate (eek)- and are now (kind of) ready for the rest of the week.

Happy Easter everyone and here’s to Greek Easter in a few months to come.

What did you get up to over the long weekend, I’d love to read about your Easter break in the comments?
