Oliver, 4 has been testing out the LeapFrog LeapPad 3 (RRP £89.99), an educational, high performance and fun gaming device ideal for 3-9 year old’s (and younger if my 2 year old son Alexander is anything to go by too).
With a chic green, pretty design (it also comes in pink) and has a new, improved 5-inch touchscreen with kid-safe web content and Wi-Fi.
It also has a shock-absorbing outer rim, ideal for my kids who seem to drop their things easily (when not playing on their beds that is).
My son hasn’t put it down since it arrived and with access to an engaging learning library bursting with 700+ educator designed games, apps, eBooks, videos, music and more, it’s no surprise really.
He loves the number and alphabet games especially which are ideal for his reception level of education. The cooking and car games are also popular with the boys!
Amazingly, the LeapPad 3 also has 4GB of memory enabling kids to store 20,000 photos (WOW!) along with two-megapixel front and back cameras and video recorders (perfect for mini budding filmmakers and photographers).
There’s also an easy to use slot for cartridge games and an attached stylus which helps hone your kids motor skills and make them tablet-savvy!
The device also has a built-in Wi-Fi that you can turn on to download apps and track your children’s progress. I tend to keep it on as Oliver plays as the device has a child-safe search function, allowing him to search safely online (usually for truck videos)!
It really offers peace of mind!
All of the apps we have for our original LeapPad have transferred easily too and having two devices now means little Alexander gets one of his own!
It really keeps my kids occupied for hours, especially on long car journeys! Its built-in lithium ion battery helps-it’s a rechargeable battery, similar to the previous LeapPad2 Power tablet and lasts for 24 hours minimum.
