Honest Mum & A Mummy Too X Iceland & Win £500 Vouchers to Celebrate #PowerofFrozen Campaign

A Mummy Too & Honest Mum-Iceland

HM_Featured_Competition_200pxAs I mentioned in December 2015 (that seems so long ago now)! 2016 is the year of the collaboration for me, and that it certainly, is!

Iceland

Drumroll please as this new year sees brilliant food and lifestyle blogger Emily Leary of A Mummy Too and I join forces in an exciting campaign: #PowerofFrozen for super -supermarket Iceland. Woohoo!

Mums (plural) have certainly gone to Iceland! Boom boom. #dadjoke (soz)!

Iceland

Seriously though, and very excitingly, over the coming months, Emily and I will be sharing quick, easy and totally delicious meals created from Iceland’s healthy frozen range (along with some fresh, chilled and cupboard ingredients from the store too) that will prove utterly perfect for the entire family.

There will also be videos, a tour around Iceland, interviews, maybe even a celeb meet up (ooh la la)- and much, much more.

I even got to take the owner of the house’s Porsche for a spin at the end of the day, which was pretty ah-mazing!

And wow! What a location. This divine mansion overlooking a lake, was one of the most exquisite houses I’d ever set eyes on- arranged by Emily, with a super crew including her photographer husband Mark behind the camera, it was the ideal spot for our culinary shoot.

location

I have to say as a full time blogger, and sometime model (!) I’ve taken part in a lot of shoots over the years (many with my super husband shooting too) but this was truly one of the most relaxed and fun days I’ve ever had on set.

The energy was electric and Emily and I had an absolute ball, eating, cooking, shooting and laughing our way through the day.

I think Mark has perfectly captured our joy in these pictures and I adore the relaxed ones taken unbeknown to us as we chilled out at the end of the shoot.

I mentioned we ate during the shoot and truly we couldn’t stop.

…We chomped through the food we rustled up from Iceland throughout the day, as did the crew which is testament to how tasty their meals are. We could not believe how quick their Luxury Belgian Chocolate Melt in the Middle Puddings were to make too (40 seconds on full in the microwave et voilà)!

…Emily and I have been friends for a while-we’re fans of one another’s blogs and are both of course madly-passionate about food and particularly family meals, making this a DREAM collab for us.

We are also, of course, both, huge fans of Iceland.

Honest Mum

As a BA and MA student at Goldsmiths, University of London, I actually lived close, and even above, an Iceland shop at one point, in New Cross during my studies, so my diet consisted of both fresh and frozen food to keep me fuelled up during that formative time.

Merging with the store now in 2016, a shop that was a lifeline to me during my student days has brought back the happiest of memories for me.

It feels rather full circle too.

My goal of becoming a writer during my days in higher education, and shopping in that very store- which now sees me doing just that, and with this particular brand too, means a lot to me.

I will be entirely honest though, and possibly like you, have lost track of shopping at Iceland over recent years.

As time went on, and I lived in various areas in London, then Bristol before returning to my home town of Leeds a few years ago, I stopped shopping at Iceland. There wasn’t one close by and I truly wasn’t aware of the full range and scope on offer there.

I have now taste-tested, cooked and experimented with Iceland’s products, and have been utterly blown away by the quality of ingredients and the incredibly diverse food available there: hello kale, zesty bean quinoa and veggie couscous for a start (yes, really) and I have to say, I love how easy it is to do ALL of my shopping under one roof.

With chilled and fresh fare, cupboard ingredients, tasty and healthy ready meals (with an exclusive Slimming World range too) along with much-loved branded items and household essentials like washing powder and even pet food on offer, those who don’t already know how awesome Iceland are, are in for a great surprise.

Not got an Iceland near you?

Fear not, because they do online shopping (spend just £30 and get free online delivery directly to your door-was £35 and offer ends 5 Feb 2016) and by eating more frozen food, contrary to what you might assume, will make you feel healthier than ever, as nutrients are retained when fresh items are frozen, and most importantly you’ll save on food waste, and of course money too.

Cha-ching!

I can’t wait to post more foodie pieces and lots of recipes as Emily and I cook, photograph, film and share just how empowering frozen food from Iceland can be. Fill up your freezers, folks!
