With the colder weather on the horizon and few solid months of being in the country, my mind has turned to home improvements.
I have a huge passion for interiors. I love nothing more than channelling my inner Laurence Llewelyn Bowen (sans the flamboyant suits) and getting my ‘DIY’ on!
I can easily spend hours scouring through interiors magazines and perusing Pinterest for inspiration, creating mood boards of my dream decor!
Recently, I’ve been considering redecorating mine and Peter’s bedroom.
They say that the kitchen is the heart of the home – which is very much true in my house – but our bedroom is a close contender as both my sons have got into the habit of sleeping in our bed despite having double beds of their own!
It’s like a scene out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!
We only decorated the room a few years ago so it doesn’t need a complete overhaul, but I am keen to update a few pieces to keep the interiors fresh and modern.
As regular readers will know, when it comes to interiors I am very much a fan of neutral, stylish and contemporary designs bringing in select pieces that add a ‘pop’ of colour to the room, such as artwork, upholstery and accessories and lighting.
With four of us in the bed, I need a king size (just in case the little one says roll over…) and in keeping with the neutral palette, I love this Atlanta bed in white.
The contemporary style and clean lines are very ‘Scandi-chic’ and the Scandinavians are well and truly the masters of stylish furnishings and interiors!
Available from top online retailer, Mattressman, it is carved from sustainable rubberwood, so it is kind to the environment, as well as fantastic quality and sturdy too (which is a must with a whole family sleeping in it!).
It is also great value too. The king size version of the bed retails at £279 with free delivery too!
Like the frame, I like to keep the bed linen neutral too and you can’t beat the White Company when it comes to quality.
This 200 thread count Egyptian cotton bedding is so divine! Pure luxe!
Scattering cushions and layering throws are the perfect way to add pops of colour to the bed and update your interiors easily.
For a contemporary feel, I like to mix up with clashing prints and neon hues.
Harlequin Bahia cushion, John Lewis, £45 Jeffrey Rose Tree Cushion, Liberty, £150
Savannah Cushion, John Lewis, £55
Knitted Throw, John Lewis, £39
Harlequin Katsura throw, John Lewis, £195
Continuing the bursts of colour onto the wall, when it comes to artwork I am a huge fan of the fashion illustrator and close friend of mine Cara Gray.
I have a couple of her prints in the lounge and I love how they transform the room – so stunning, so chic!
Having recently introduced a new ‘no technology in the bedroom’ room to stop Peter and I working and checking emails before bed, I have been reading loads of good ol’ fashioned books before bed – how retro huh?!
So I need a new bedside lamp and I love this one from Made.com, which combines modern steel with a vintage glass shade! So chic!
It is great value too at just £59
So what do you think of my interior choices? Will you be making any home improvements this autumn?
