Happy 2nd Birthday Oliver!

My baby toddler turns 2 today.  TWO WHOLE YEARS! So much has happened since his dramatic entrance into the world.

We’ve lived in 3 different cities, had time off, started work again, made films, changed jobs, friends, houses and all the while our lives have been irrevocably, indellibly transformed by one charismatic and delightful young man.

It’s amazing that such a small person can make such a HUGE impression.

I never knew unconditional love before Oliver nor what being a mother truly meant. This last year, I’ve found myself feeling I’m getting rather good at it after stumbling through the first, blinded by shock and sleep deprivation.

Oliver, I love that you tell me to, ‘Be careful Mama’ when I get too silly and dance and drive; I never bore of your boundless energy and joy for life and that at two, you seem so wise. I relish in your kisses and ‘group hugs’, the fact you’ve sang Happy Birthday to yourself every day all week and that you love to dance and bake. Little O, you make my big heart smile.  Happy 2nd Birthday.  We love you.

P.S I’m sorry I forgot to write a message on the back of the CBeebies’ card I  lovingly spent hours making before sending special delivery a month in advance. Here’s hoping they see past that and got my email pleading to still broadcast it (and they received the tray of baclava). Just in case it never makes it’s TV debut, here it is making it’s online one.
