I’d like to share a bit of advice to all my readers who haven’t yet had kids. Never – and I repeat NEVER – take date nights for granted. Because as soon as bambinos are on the scene – and my fellow mamas will back me up here – date nights become rarer than rocking horse poop!

Pre-kids, mine and Peter’s Saturday nights would be spent out in London, enjoying romantic, intimate meals for two before hitting the capital’s best cocktail bars! Our Saturday nights nowadays…well lets just say movies on the box and watching First Dates rather than actually having (dates) is our weekend ritual! You see, despite their tendency to end up at the bottom of your list of priorities, regular date nights are essential to a healthy relationship.

So much so, the Norwegian Government recently launched a national campaign encouraging couples with kids to ‘date more’ in an attempt to curb rising divorce numbers!

So when you do manage to squeeze in one of those elusive date nights, it’s inevitable that you want to look and feel your best right?

I need no excuse to dress up and when it comes to my date night style I like to go all out, girls!

Although I know Peter loves me no matter what I look like, I love to dress up for him and ooze a bit of glamour when I can!

So last week, when Peter and I headed out for a date in Leeds, my mum kindly came over a few hours earlier to collect the kids, ensuring I had a leisurely couple of hours to preen and pamper myself beforehand!

I’m a dress girl at heart and love getting my legs out which means that smooth and silky pins are a must! I’ve never been a fan of shaving as I find it can irritate my sensitive skin, so I instead I opt for hair removal creams.

Most recently, I’ve been using the new Nair Moroccan Argan Oil Collection.

Also known as liquid gold, Argan Oil is one of those revolutionary products that you try once and then suddenly can’t live without! One of nature’s most effective moisturisers, it’s a huge hit with A-listers such as Eva Mendes and Marian Cottilard.

Seriously, if you haven’t tried it yet get it on your beauty radar now!

For my legs and bikini line, I use the Nair™ Moroccan Argan Oil Ultimate Roll-On Wax for Body. Quick and easy to use, the results last up to 8 weeks. Almost 10 days later and my legs are still softer than a baby’s booty!

For under arms, I use the Nair™ Moroccan Argan Oil Glides Away™ designed for those contoured, hard to reach areas. Effective even on coarse hair, it leaves skin super smooth and soft. Its such an improvement on shaving my underarms and you don’t have to worry about signs of stubble the next day as it lasts for days.

In the past, hair removal creams have had bad rep for smelling…well pretty awful if I’m honest. However, fear not, they’ve improved massively over the past few years and the Nair Argan Oil range smells dreamy! Scented with orange blossom its perfect for a ‘home salon’ experience.

Having smooth and soft skin is so important to how I feel for the rest of the night.

Whilst I love the fact some women are beginning to embrace the fuzz (you go gals!), everyone is different and personally I can’t feel sexy with stubble!

So with my skin beautifully moisturised from the Nair products, I’m ready for my date!

You can’t go wrong with an LBD in my eyes, so I opted for this little black chiffon number from Coast.

I hadn’t actually been able to wear into this dress since having kids and this was the first time it fit properly, so I was pretty chuffed! My vegan and no sugar diet must have paid off!

Naturally an LBD calls for some pretty glam accessories, so I paired it with these gorgeous Gina-inspired shoes from Next and my fave Anya Hindmarch clutch

Check out those silky smooth pins – not a stray hair in sight!

So whether you’ve got a hot date on the horizon or perhaps are just jetting off on your summer holidays, make sure you check out the new Nair Argan Oil range! The essential start to any beauty regime!

I’m definitely trying out the Nair products. I don’t like shaving and usually forget. You look great. The little black dress looks fantastic on you. Hope you had a great date night! We get date nights sometimes, but we’re usually going out to see a band or going dancing. I’m going to have the hubby take us to some nice restaurants so I can wear a little black dress and dress us more.

Date nights? What are they…. just kidding and agree they really are vital to a healthy relationship. As you know my mum does not live with us anymore and it was very hard to get used to not having a babysitter! You are so lucky to have your mum on hand anytime. We had a sitter for a while, but now she has just had a baby so need to find someone else.
Nair is the brand I have been loyal for years and think their products are the best. need to look out for the new range as I do not think I have seen it in our supermarket… starnge!

You look hot mama, seriously smoking’… and of course we got a preview the other night. Swit swoo! I use Nair on my legs too, prefer to nicking myself with razors and I hadn’t realised they had an argan oil version out so will definitely check it out. So right about trying to find some time to date your other half and I love that the Norwegian government are stepping in with a campaign. Those Scandis are so progressive 🙂 x

    A ‘what’ night?!

I think you hit a stage in life where the kids grow just about old enough for you to be able to manage to get our more (hello grandparent childcare!), or failing that, give each other nights out, which is what we’ve been doing a lot lately.

But ultimately you’re right. The freedom to just ditch everything and head out without a care in the world is a thing of the past.

Furthermore, you’ve got to take into consideration the state you’re gonna be in the next day, when you have to return to childcare mode, preferably with a clear head and at a legal (alcohol) limit.

I’m a razor blade addict. I’ve never tried depilatory cream before – must give it a go, because the razor just doesn’t ever give you that perfectly smooth feeling.

And you’re totally right about a LBD! You can never go wrong head to toe in sophisticated black! xx
