Oxfam

Is it a cat, is it a bird? No it’s me, Honest Mum wearing a mask to a ball her kid Xander chose!

What am I going on about you cry?

Well, I’m beyond excited to be joining celebrities such as Sarah Cox, Stephen Mangan, Jo Wiley and Amanda Holden in my role as an ambassador supporting Oxfam’s new ‘Dressed By The Kids’ campaign to help raise money for those affected by poverty.

Taking place on April 29th, Dressed by the Kids Day is exactly what it says on the tin: a day when parents across the UK will bravely allow their kids to ‘Gok Wan’ them for 24 hours, letting them loose in their wardrobe and giving them complete free rein to style you!

And this isn’t just for us mamas! Dads, aunts, uncles and grandparents can all get involved in the fundraising extravaganza by wearing crazy concoctions to the office, on the school run or even the weekly shop!

Do you accept the challenge?

Cat woman is requesting your co-operation!

I’ll be joining in the fun, giving Oliver and Xander full creative control over my outfit on the 29th April-eek!

Little do they know that their bedtime reading between now and then will mainly consist of Vogue, Elle and Red Magazine in a bid to create my own pint-sized Dolce and Gabanna duo!

But joking aside, O and X are super excited to dress their mama, but the question is, will this mummy have style when they’re done?

Fortunately, I don’t have too many fashion horrors lurking in the back of my wardrobe as I have regular spring cleans, sending unworn outfits to local charity shops or passing on pieces that no longer work for me onto friends and family.

As both my boys are HUGE Disney fans I suspect they may go down the ‘princess route’ with an uber glam dress and sparkling accessories! They both call me Rapunzel already so I’m prepared!

Perhaps they’ll go this Duchess of Cambridge-esque stunning purple lace Jacques Vert number that I wore to Cannes last year.

Or this divine Jacques Vert dress that I popped on for a night at the ballet – guaranteed to be Belle of the Ball!

Or will they be influenced by The Little Mermaid and dress me up in this shell print number by Great Plains?

Or this Jacques Vert stunner! So glam!

Or perhaps they’ll go with a lion king theme (a fave in this house) and go totally wild with animal print! So basically my every day look!

Raah!

And of course every Disney princess needs a faux fur lined coat for when they’re being chased through the forest by the evil queen!

This coat reminds me of the cloak worn by Belle in Beauty and the Beast-a vintage number I’ll be popping it in the wardrobe to inspire them!

And course some royal bling to finish off the outfit, such as this statement necklace from Yosa would add the final touch.

Let’s see what the boys come up with!

So how can you get involved?

You can sign up via www.oxfam.org.uk/dressedbythekids, where you will be issued a unique text code to allow family and friends to sponsor you in an instant enabling you to raise money for the causes supported by Oxfam.

On the day you can share your kids’ crazy creation on social media using the hashtag #DressedByTheKids.

I’d love you to get involved and show me how your kids dress you for the day

Let the fun commence!

Well Vicki, I look forward to seeing how you turn out. I think my kids are already eyeing up my kilt. That’ll be fun on the school run!

If my kids choose any of those above, then I’m in trouble. Might make the school run interesting though, if I have to do it in heels and a dress. 🙂

Great idea and cause. I really hope that the boys choose something like sweatpants and a t-shirt! I’m sure you can’t always be so glam 😉

Ooh what a fun idea for such a great cause. Can’t wait to see what the boys put you in – I’m sure they’ll be very creative. Loving all your looks but my favourite is the uber chic dark blue dress by Jacques vert. x
