Dulux Amazing Space Review & Win a £25 John Lewis Voucher

I love my house, I really do, we’ve lived here for a year and a half and adore the space, the area we live in and the views- but thanks to Pinterest I’m getting some serious interiors envy and want to make some changes, some subtle, others a bit more dramatic and I really need to freshen up the place, repaint and polish up some of our furniture.

The request to test the Dulux Amazing Space package came at just the right time for me!

Pinterest is such an amazing way to gather inspiration and follow all the latest interiors trends in one spot, but imagine if you could enlist the help of a professional interior designer and have a creative expert design your home.

Sounds expensive right? Well not any more…

For just £75 per room, you can receive expert advice from one of Dulux’s design consultants on how to transform your living space in away that is affordable and also stress free

So here are the three rooms I wanted to focus on.

First up the dining area in our kitchen-

I adore our bright yellow, red and monochrome kitchen but I feel the connecting dining area could do with a different dining table and some slight tweaks to fit the more modern kitchen space.

Finally, our master bedroom is frankly too bland right now. I would love it to be bolder and reflect my personality me! I also desperately need to sort out my over crowded dressing table! Eek!

The consultant even helped me with ideas there too! No job is too big or small!

Let me take you through the steps of how Dulux Amazing Spaces works-

First, I completed an online questionnaire that was both comprehensive and easy to follow

I submitted information of the kind of house we have and uploaded photographs of the rooms I want to change.

I then clicked and gave notes on photos they gave me helping the service explore my likes, dislikes and overall vision.

Here’s a selection of my results.

Then I embarked on my personal consultation with the Dulux Design Expert with a 30 minute Skype style consultation for each room using Adobe Connect.

My consultants Jo and Jade were experienced, professional but also friendly and engaging, the perfect people to guide and advise me.

They made me see each room with fresh eyes and suggested changes I wouldn’t have thought of that made complete sense aesthetically and practically.

When it came to paint, I loved the idea of changing my almond white walls either to a pale grey in the lounge. All suggestions were to go with Dulux’ Paint Mixing Endurance hard wearing resistant paint which is ideal with little children.

I loved Jo’s suggestion that I go grey with my lounge, painting the fireplace and mirror grey to create a bolder centre point to the room. She adored the chaise longue I already own so took its dark legs as inspiration for the rest of the furniture, suggesting we polish the wooden coffee table darker and add grey and gold accessories.

I cannot wait to make the changes to the lounge in the new year.

Here’s a few of the gorgeous items she suggested

When it came to the kitchen, Jade suggested painting the wooden legs of my chairs in stripes or switching the chairs to more modern perspex ones or even wooden mismatched seats to create a more cool and contemporary look. I liked the idea of creating a chalk space too for the kids to write on, on the wall,  that I would wipe clean for dinner parties too.

I was really pleased Jade had answered my problem of creating a more fluid space style wise and I’m convinced these small changes will make a big difference to my dining area.

With my bedroom, opting for purples, a colour I never would have previously considered, truly inspired me, even if I didn’t go for the overall paint, I would like to introduce purple accessories now- a throw, cushions and maybe a rug.

I also loved the idea of adding texture through wallpaper behind my bed. An easy way to liven up my room with minimal effort and spend.

When I mentioned I would like to see the room in teal too, it was made up for me in the 3D version. This experience really is a bespoke way to envision your home before you spend any money. Great value and money well spent in the planning stages.

Seeing the 3D versions of each room, with the new paint and accessories sent within 48 hours of the consultation, is enlightening.

I could visualise how my rooms would look once changed, something you just can’t do however much you plan, at the start of your decorating venture.

You are also sent emails with links to items discussed in your meetings, making shopping for pieces simple and easy.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this service-it’s simple, easy, highly informative and most of all inspiring.

I just can’t wait to start making changes to my house.

Thank you Dulux.
