John Adams can usually be found writing at Dadbloguk.com. A married dad of two, John recently added a men’s style section to his website.
It’s been a big hit and John thoroughly enjoys writing about clothes and style.
John’s writing has come to the attention of some notable figures. He recently spent a day in Paris as a guest of French fashion giant Celio* where he appeared in a video the company was making.
The summer of 2014 caught me completely by surprise.
After years of wet summers, I had nothing suitable for the warmth and sun so went on a major shopping spree to update my wardrobe. Okay, so it was a bit of an excuse, but at least I had fun doing it.
As the days are getting shorter, I’m now looking to the colder, winter months. Here are some of the items you can expect to see me wearing this autumn / winter season.
I’ve recently discovered a fantastic brand called Smart Turnout. It’s a high-end label that makes classically styled menswear. The company was formed by former Scots Guardsman Philip Turner who struggled to find a jumper featuring his regiment’s colours. Philip ordered his own garment and before too long was receiving requests from fellow officers wanting their own items.
Voila, Smart Turnout was born!
All the items are classically designed and very distinctive. Most of the clothes and accessories feature some kind of military colours and are ideal for a smart or smart casual look.
I’m pictured here wearing the Logan design jumper (above) and the Darby design (below). Both could be matched with a scarf to create a look with a preppy flavour.
If you want to know more about Smart Turnout’s accessories, take a look at this post on smart turnout accessories on my blog.
Farah is a brand I’d admired from afar for some time. Some of its clothes are really youthful and colourful but some feel more refined and understated. The jeans in this shot were my first Farah purchase. They’re indigo blue Straight Leg Jeans from the Classic range.
Truly comfortable and a great fit; they also mix well with the Smart Turnout’s items and at £30 didn’t break the bank.
As the weather is getting colder, the loafers and deck shoes I’ve been living in will soon be put away. In preparation, I’ve invested in some more suitable footwear.
These brogue-style ankle boots are from Red Herring at Debenhams. They’re faux-fur lined so ideal for the frosty winter days ahead.
I snapped these up in the sales so you’ll struggle to get a pair exactly like them.
Luckily, Jasper Conran does a very similar pair called the Genoa Brogue for £120 (also available from Debenhams).
So, that gives you some idea of what I’ll be wearing over the winter months.
I hope you like what I’ve chosen.
Do leave me a comment on your thoughts!
It’s been a pleasure writing for Honest Mum and a big thank you to Vicki for hosting this post.
