Coachella kicked off last weekend, filling our instagram feeds with flower crowns, bohemian beauties and a certain nipple ring!
Possibly the only festival in the world where the fashion dominates more headlines than the music, it’s little wonder that Coachella is often referred to as Nevada Fashion Week with just as much influence on style trends as the actual designer catwalks…
From Taylor’s new peroxide look to Kylie’s stolen style (did she, didn’t she?), festival style is a form of escapism-for one weekend, you can escape the humdrum of everyday life and enter a bohemian utopia.
A chance to unleash your inner-hippy, immerse yourself in the arts and if you want wear head to toe glitter no one even bats an eyelid!
Back in the real world and the glitter look is far less practical (imagine the mess!) but there’re so many ways to work the festival look into your everyday wardrobe and embody the style without having to set foot near a tent! Phew!
Here are a few of my favourite high street and designer pieces for this trend:
Layered Fringe Bardot Blouse, Topshop – £40
Shoulders are the new sexy this season so Bardot blouses are summer essential. The fringed detailed and embroidered shoulders are the perfect way to inject festival fun into your outfit.
ASOS Studded Pointed Ankle Boots, £35
Studded boots are a footwear fave of festival fashionistas (when the weather permits of course – otherwise its Hunters all the way). These ASOS booties would make Kate Moss proud and at £35 it would be rude not to!
Raquel Allegra, Tie-dye frayed cotton blend dress, £325
Tie die is a hippie fave and fortunately one of this season’s most desirable styles. Crank up the Hendrix on your i-Pod and whisk yourself back to Woodstock.
H&M, Hobo bag with fringes, £24.99
H&M can do no wrong! Fringed bags have been a wardrobe staple for sometime now, but I love this unique blush coloured shoulder bag.
Asymmetric Off-Shoulder Dress, & otherstories, £69
This ethereal beauty is the ultimate summer date night dress (i.e when there’s no kids around with grubby fingers). Gauzy layers create a dreamy silhouette.
