brilliant blog posts-Honest Mum

It might be cold outside, but fear not, my beautiful blogging friends because you are now at the HOTTEST linky in town!

Yup, you’ve guessed it…It’s #BrilliantBlogPosts time!

It’s been an emotional week here at Honest Mum Towers. Last Thursday saw me speak on a panel at the British Library with some incredibly gifted and creative entrepreneurs in a workshop titled ‘Pram in the Hall: Balancing Motherhood with Running a Business.

I spoke at the event with my good friend and business partner Jessica Huie MBE, who is one of the inspirational women who I know.

I was overwhelmed by the audience’s reaction to what I said at the event and was even moved to tears by some of the follow up emails from women saying that hearing my story had moved them to make changes in their own life.

The highs of the event, were then unfortunately tainted when over weekend I was ‘trolled’ by a nasty man (if it was indeed a man) on this blog saying hurtful things about not just me but also my family too.

Both of these experiences inspired me to write this post entitled Don’t Doubt Yourself, which I’m linking up to today.

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.

I have been touched by the comments of those who have already read it and it is posts like these – the ones that come straight from the heart – that I love writing so much and which  always drive me to blog (and now vlog!).

I have also made a video on ‘The Things I’ve Learnt In 35 Years’ to celebrate my birthday last week where I discuss self-doubt and how to overcome it in the video too.

I hope you enjoy x

As always link up your posts, as many as you like, link back and comment on as many posts as you fancy including the one I’ve linked up.

I’m excited to announce that I am speaking at a free workshop this Friday 27th at Aubaine Marylebone, London between 1-2pm as part of Stylist Magazine’s #reclaimyourlunchbreak on how to turn passion into pounds with myself and Jessica Huie MBE, please email Hayley at Thanks.

You are such an amazing beautiful lady, I am so glad you can rise above idiot trolls, it’s the only way to be but it must be so hard especially when they comment on your gorgeous family. Great video, you are so glam I love it. Thanks for hosting! xx

Thank you lovely, that means a lot-from adversity comes positivity hey! Would love to make the next one next year so we can meet. Thank you for your support x

Hi Vicky! I voted for you! When I was over at Rachel Turone’s voting for her in her category, I remembered reading you were nominated but I was on my phone at the time I commented here on Monday so couldn’t vote so I just did it now!
Love your video! Particularly loved your son clutching his dinosaur and indignant, “Mummy, you’re still 34!” comment!

I wondered also- I have a favour to ask- I’ve entered Lady Vintage’s competition to style one of their dresses and send in a photo and if you liked my picture best out of the entries, I’d love it if you felt able to vote for me by liking my picture! Cheeky, I know, but I really want to win- never won anything like that before and I’d the support of my lovely blog friends. I’m the first one wearing the pink floral dress if you felt able to ‘like’ my picture for me on Facebook?  Here’s the link:

P.S. And thanks for the reply to my comment. Yes, that’s true, the worst case scenario would be being replaced and although music teacher jobs full time in one school are hard to come by, with my track record and unique skills I should be able to find one if it happened (which as you say, it wont!)

Vicki I’m so sorry you were trolled this week – seems it was you and me both!! Well I don’t consider mine a troll, just a deeply negative, rude woman who decided to attack me personally (and accuse me of supporting the very thing I vehemently oppose on my blog). It’d be the equivalent of you being told you’re a terrible mother and wife and that you don’t do anything to encourage women to believe in themselves – i.e. the VERY OPPOSITE of what your blog is all about!!

So I hope that you deleted his comments (as I did)… I unfortunately let this woman make me so cross that she spoiled my Sunday, Monday AND Tuesday. I really wanted to leave her comments up so everyone could see how awful she was being, but although I don’t believe in censorship, deleting her comments made me feel so much better and now I don’t have them there to go back and dwell on.

I know we’re supposed to “take it on the chin” when we’re bloggers and when people make fun of what I wear and troll me that way it just makes me laugh – but when it gets personal it’s not nice.

I hope you’re good now and know that we love you!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh darling, I am so very sorry you had to deal with this awful, clearly a terribly unhappy person jealous of all your amazingness. I know it is so hard to not let it get to you, it upset me too but we mustn’t let it stop of us from doing what we are doing, keep rocking girl. Love you too x

Congrats on your speech and so sorry to hear about the troll! What an idiot but how distressing for you. A belated Happy Birthday to you and thank you for hosting – I am linking for the first time 🙂

Hi Vicki, I am so sorry that you’ve been trolled! That person, whoever they maybe needs to get a life and to stop knocking people who have one. On appositive; Happy 35th Birthday for last week (bet you had a good one) and congratulations on delivering a successful speech.

Thanks for hosting and don’t let the b****r get you down!
