We’re massive fans of delicious cake brand Betty Crocker and even more so now that there’s a new collection of delicious gluten-free options available too.
Ideal for those who prefer to omit wheat from their diet, are celiacs/ can’t eat the grain due to an intolerance or allergy, these tantalising treats for chocolate-lovers everywhere are just dreamy plus you won’t believe they’re gluten free.
I share a lot of wheat/gluten-free recipes here on the blog because as a family we collectively feel better when we don’t over consume wheat, and whilst I’m all for moderation when it comes to food, if there’s a gluten-free option, we’re all over it, especially treats.
And let me tell you straight off, these beauties taste delicious, are easy to make and made for the most fun evenings after school and nursery with the boys.
Just look at them. Wow!
…Those who follow my blog know that baking and cooking is my favourite activity with my boys. In fact baking takes the lead when it comes to things which help me wind down in general-and because the boys are so incredibly engaged when we bake, creating tasty treats with them tends to be pretty relaxed too.
Who needs yoga when you have cookies huh!
These ready to make packets are so quick and convenient too (with lots of mixture per box) making it easy to get baking. There’s not always time to bake from scratch with the kids, particularly mid week but thanks to the Betty Croker range, we cook bake in no time at all and have treats for the rest of the week.
Betty Crocker’s gluten free options do, of course, make life easier for those eating gluten-free and those baking for others who don’t eat wheat.
With Betty Crocker, you can make perfect cakes, cookies and brownies every single time. She is the UK’s number 1brand in icing and baking mixes!* and you will love these treats!

…These guys loved every minute of our baking extravaganza and were so well behaved too, taking it in turns to stir and pour.
That’s my boys!
First up, we got baking a batch of Betty Crocker Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Cookies and with only 10 minutes needed for prep and a baking time of 12-15 minutes, before we knew it, 16 delicious cookies were ready and waiting to be chomped! (We didn’t eat all 16 at once promise)!
Crunchy on the outside and chewy in (just how we like them) you just need to follow 3 quick and easy steps to baking these cookies, making it easy for the kids to get stuck in!
Warm up your oven to 180°c (160° for fan assisted ovens)/ Gas Mark 4 and get going!
All you need along with the box- (Makes 16)
- 90ml vegetable oil (6 tbsp)
- 1 medium free range egg
- Baking tray lined with greaseproof paper.
First, pour in the ready made gluten free flour mix-
Oliver couldn’t stop himself and ate a chocolate chip from the mix. Look at that guilty face!
Then in went the oil…
Mama cracked the egg.
Then it was time to stir the mix in a large bowl until a soft dough was formed.
With a bit of help from Mama.
Xander wanted to make cookie balls whilst I spooned heaped teaspoons of the dough onto the lined baking tray. When you make yours, don’t forget to leave generous gaps (approximately 5cm) between each one so they have room to expand in the oven.
Xander said this bit was his favourite part!
The boys even placed their cookies onto their own tray so they knew which they’d made.
It was important they made sure they had lots of chocolate chips on the top of each cookie.
Once I’d given them a helping hand laying out their cookies, we baked them in the centre of the oven for approx 12 minutes (it can take 12-15 minutes) so wait until they’re golden or you can leave in a little longer for extra crunch if you like.
And here they are!
We literally can’t stop eating these crumbly, chocolatey cookies. Oliver even popped one into his packed lunch box today too!
We’ve been eating them as a dessert during the week after dinner too.
Just look how much they love them.
‘They’re just so yummy, mummy’!
….Next up, it was brownie time with Betty Crocker’s Chocolate Fudge Gluten Free Brownie Mix. Aren’t my boys lucky getting their bake on like this!
Oliver is completely obsessed with brownies and always asks for one if we ever pop to a coffee shop. We’ve not made brownies together before so he was bursting with pride when these came out of the oven.
And that’s the thing about baking and cooking, children feel a real sense of achievement when they create and then enjoy what they’ve made- and making up these tasty treats had my boys beaming by the end.
…Chewy on top and gooey inside, these are lip-lickingly good and again you simply cannot tell they’re gluten-free. Top marks all round!
Preparation is just 10 minutes, baking time 20-25.
All you need, along with the box
- 60g butter (or 90ml vegetable oil)
- 2 medium free range eggs
- Lightly greased 9×9 (23cm x 23cm square tin
There’s only 3 steps again to baking these beauties so let’s go!
Heat up the oven to 180°c (160° for fan assisted ovens)/ Gas Mark 4 and start baking!
Pour in the brownie mix…
Then add the butter and eggs and blend (the mixture may be lumpy).
Oliver liked to use the whisk…
Xander preferred a wooden spoon which he could grip more easily.
Next, spread the mixture evenly into a lightly greased square tin.
Spread out. The boys used folks for this and then I evened it out with a spatula.
Then it’s into the oven they go. Bake in the centre for 20-25 minutes or until a rounded knife, inserted 5cm (2″) from the edge of time comes out clean. Allow to cool before cutting into slices.
Yummy!
They got the thumbs up from these discerning bakers again!
All of these treats are suitable for vegetarians too.
Have you tried them yet?
What you waiting for?! Get stuck in!
I’ll be sharing Becky Crocker Devil’s Food cake mix which made 24 cupcakes for my boys soon too so don’t miss it!
