A Wonderful Family Break at the Royal Garden Hotel in London

Reception at the Royal Garden Hotel

Luxury and family can mix folks. Take it from me, I’m just back from a dreamboat of a holiday in the South of France where the little ones had the BEST time and so did we!

You don’t need to compromise on quality just because you’ve procreated, people. And yes whilst quality can often mean a bigger expense, booking in advance and planning can mean seeing the world- and staying at world-class hotels in exquisite areas a possibility with kids in tow.

The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington is a testament to that.

The Royal Garden Hotel

Welcoming to all and geared to kids in every way (huge rooms, breakfasts fit for little princes and princesses, super rucksacks filled with activities for kids, free scooters for all the family and a ‘Food and Flicks’ night rolling out soon that we sampled) meant our stay at this 5-star hotel in London was fun but importantly stress-free too.

Our second stay as a family, my fourth, personally, The Royal Garden Hotel holds a special place in our hearts as we brought along my parents with us last year for a long weekend there and I was recently a guest with my friend Maria when we attended the premiere of ITV’s ‘Victoria’ at Kensington Palace too.

The Royal Garden is a place we’ve made many wonderful memories- and experienced quality time with family and friends too.

An ideal location in Kensington overlooking a view I’ll never tire of (Kensington Gardens) and a stone’s throw away from all our favourite shops: Harrods, Zara, Urban Outfitters, H&M and more, along with our beloved Whole Foods across the road (with sushi on the top floor to die for)- and not forgetting a suite we never wanted to leave- RGH is everything you could wish for and more.

This time, we had a connecting room in the suite along with a dining area, two lounges and 3 bathrooms, the former in particular proved ideal for the boys and gave the husband and I some space (mostly for all my clothes-I really need to learn to pack light).

Whilst the kids did find their way into our bed in the night, it was thankfully HUGE, they did love using their room to watch films in and play computer games together- and it would be perfect for those with tweens and teens.

…A real foodie I must now direct my attention to the food at the Royal Garden which is utterly exquisite.

With delicious and reasonably priced room service we plumped for twice (hello tuna sandwiches, cheese platters, tabbouleh salad and oven roasted salmon)-and the most all-encompassing and delightful of breakfasts I’ve ever seen (waffles, omelettes, cakes, croissants and more), the hotel is open to non-residents as well as guests and is a must-visit when you’re in the city.

What I love about RGH is nothing is too much trouble, you fancy avo on sourdough toast and lashings of butter or eggs cooked exactly to your taste, not a problem- and reassuringly that meant the boys could enjoy their whacky egg white only fried eggs without a tantrum. Got a fussy eater, RGH will be there for you folks!

The Food and Flicks night was super too making for the most magical of movie nights with fun party food for all the family and films on demand we watched on the big screen in our room and the boys even hooked up the iPad and played there fave games after too!

Food and Flicks will be rolling out in the October half term and promises to offer your little ones a cosy night in meaning you can all just sit back and relax with your most favourite films whilst spending quality time together. Yay…playing the computer at the royal garden hotel

We loved hanging out in the Princess Diana Memorial Playground, one of our fave spots and my most favourite picture ever I think was taken by Peter unbeknown to us in Kensington Gardens, just two amazing sons playing with their mama!

I really believe the hotel ‘makes’ the holiday, it’s your base, your home from home and having this luxurious but welcoming hotel to hang out, eat delicious food in and wind down for the best night’s sleep ever, made our time in London truly special.
