I was lucky enough to enjoy two, yes two, Christmas dinners this year with the first being on Christmas Eve at the achingly beautiful Cliveden House Hotel, a short drive from our new home in Windsor.
We adore Cliveden House and it was such a delight to show my parents around and enjoy the most incredible lunch in beautiful surroundings. Thank you Cliveden House!
Huge thank you to Next for my stunning embroidered dress (and all the beautiful dresses they’ve sent me over the festive season), which was perfect for the divine feast that was awaiting us!
Mum and I are both wearing trusty M&S ponchos to try and ward off the gale force winds and I carried my personalised LV Speedy 30 bag, Mum, her Mulberry Bayswater. My heels are Office. Oliver wears a Michael Kors jacket with H&M Christmas green trousers and a Little Pud Christmas jumper!
Let’s take a closer look at my dress (*swoon).
Now onto the food…
5 star Cliveden House Hotel kindly offered us with two beautifully decadent rooms so we could enjoy a private dining experience with them, over a delicious 4 course festive lunch.
Just look at the decorations…
The children immediately took to playing chess in front of the fire as we adults sipped champagne and cooed over the festive floral arrangements and ribbon-adorned Christmas Tree.
It was certainly a room with a view.
With course after course of a pre-arranged menu of delicious and perfectly cooked dishes, we enjoyed the following:
Terrine of hay baked chicken and roast root vegetables, raisin and caper purée, toasted sourdough.
Flame grilled Cornish mackerel and scallop, cucumber, kohlrabi, ponzu.
Slow cooked duck egg, Maple glazed squash, barley, sprouts and toasted oat crumble.
Butter poached and roasted copas farm turkey, traditional accompaniments and roast turkey jus, roasted haunch of wild venison, fondant potato, parsnip, cauliflower, bay and cranberry.
Fillet of stone bass, grilled leeks, broccoli, mussel, and potato.
Cliveden Christmas pudding, brandy foam, burnt butter ice cream.
Yoghurt parfait, marinated pineapple, yeast tuile, lime and mango.
Mincemeat and white chocolate crumble tart, Muscovado ice cream and crème anglaise.
Chocolate brownies for the kids and then spiced truffles and blackcurrant meringues with coffee!
What a meal!
It was such a magical Christmas lunch with the delightful Johanna on-hand offering us excellent and thoughtful service and shared her German Christmas memories.
Thank you so much to Cliveden House for a Christmas lunch we shall never forget.
