Amalie Hughes is wife to Christian and mum of two to Josh and Poppy (4 and 3).

In 2013, Amalie embarked on self-employment and a brand new venture, Toddler Fun Learning, developing free videos to entertain, engage and educate the young ones of today globally.

In less than 2 years, their videos have had over 25 million views and they have over 35,000 subscribers to their You Tube Channel.

Describe a typical day for you?

Since becoming self employed, my focus on family has been reinstated. There’s no more waking the kiddies and rushing out the door at 7.30am for the nursery drop so I could be at work at 8am! Now we have quality breakfast time in the morning before pre-school.

Currently I work from home Monday to Thursday (between pre-school hours), where I spend the day getting my head around growing a business, making the right contacts and creating opportunities to help our business grow. As I only have a small window of time before I need to pick up the kids from pre-school, I need to be highly productive so self-motivation is crucial!

After pre-school, I turn into mummy again, spending the afternoon wearing the kiddies out by taking them swimming and making arrangements for Josh and Poppy to play with their friends, as then I get to see my friends too!

Weekends are all about the 4 of us spending quality time together and catching up with friends and family.

What do you feel are your biggest achievements?

Nothing like winning a gold medal, but for me my biggest achievements have been marrying the guy I thought I would (at the age of 17), having two amazing kiddies (close in age), looking after both of them full time when they were little and more recently leaving a successful job to build my own business.

My first half marathon was a massive achievement too, from having never run to running 13.1 miles in a respectable time.

What’s in your handbag/satchel etc?

What’s not in my bag!

As all mums with small ones will know a handbag is no longer your own! It becomes full of snacks and objects to occupy the kids if necessary!

I have my wallet, tissues, lip balm, some raisins, some Daim chocolates from a recent trip to Ikea, two McDonalds happy meal toys, a mini car, some hair clips, some breadsticks (which now resemble breadcrumbs) and my glasses.

What are your ambitions in life?

To create a loving and inspirational environment for our two kids to grow up in and to always have the time to support them in the adventures & activities that they want to explore.

Also, to have a happy and supportive marriage in which we tackle tricky times together and never feel alone.

What advice would you give your pre-baby self that you now know having had a child?

Never complain about not having enough time to do something – whether it’s fitting in exercise, learning a new skill or going out with your loved ones. Don’t spend your weekends festering with a hangover. Get up and get things done.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?

I am now at a stage where I am not quite sure if I am done with 2 children. When I picture Josh and Poppy, I see a third in tow – so we will have to see about that one!

Either way, I hope we will have made a success of our business, Toddler Fun Learning, and established it as the number 1 YouTube channel for family entertainment.

I would also like to spend more time working with charities that are close to my heart, making a difference to those that really need it.

What advice would you give a budding You Tuber/business owner?

For anyone looking to start out on YouTube my advice would be to make sure you have a content strategy in place which involves regular uploads and stagger the realises of your best content.

Finally, happiness is…

…Feeling content with your current situation, not having regrets; knowing that you have an amazing husband who will always be there for you, who continues to inspire you and makes you proud every single day.

Also, watching your children develop and grow into humans you are proud to say are yours.

Toddler Fun Learning is a family-run production company with the sole purpose to make videos for toddlers that not only look fantastic, but also help your little loved ones with their counting, spelling, vocabulary and lots more.

How come I have not seen this channel? I will need to check now! Love the fact Amalie married the guy she loved when she was 17, that’s just incredible, I was looking till I was 27! Would love for her to join my #FitnessTuesday link as a fellow marathon runner. A fab interview Vicki! x

We love watching Toddler Fun Learning videos! I found them searching for a version of the Wheels On The Bus that sang “all day long” instead of “all through the town” which seems to be the US version (and the version my toddler had adopted, cue slight embarrassment at play group singing sessions!). The videos are great quality. had no idea it’s a mumpreneur business, well done Amalie!
