Jacqui Paterson has been a magazine features journalist for 20 years, and has recently has moved into Social Media consultancy.
What do you feel are your biggest achievements?
My two children, obviously. And forging a completely new career while on maternity leave, while also caring for two pre-school children, without any childcare or outside help (the latter part not by choice!).
What’s in your handbag?
Dust. Wallet, iPhone, Oystercard, lip gloss, baby wipes, gym card, headphones, and an iPad stylus.
What advice would you give your pre baby self that you now know having had a child?
You know those days when you sit on the couch, utterly overwhelmed by everything you have to do, and your baby won’t give you a minute’s peace, and the house is a pigsty, and the ironing pile is literally as high as your toddler, and you end up crying because nothing is running as smoothly as you think it should be? Every new Mum feels EXACTLY the same way (and their house is JUST as messy!).
What are your ambitions in life?
To find that perfect work/life balance. To get to the stage where I’m successful enough to be able to pay the bills, and still take days off to spend with girls, or go away for a long weekend, or just spend an entire day cuddled up on the couch watching movies.
Where do you see yourself in five years time?
Doing exactly what I’m doing, because I absolutely love it! The Social Media tidal wave is growing and changing so quickly, and I’m really excited to see where it takes me.
What advice would you give a blogger starting out?
Find your real voice; the one that feels 100 percent authentic, and sounds like YOU in your head when you read it back.
Finally, happiness is… a sleep-in, being woken with a cuddle from my girls, then opening my laptop to find an exciting blogging opportunity in my inbox.
