Wonderful Women Interview with Emma Bunton

Emma Bunton

Updated post.

Emma Bunton needs no introduction-she’s a sensational superstar and SOOOO lovely in real life- but I’ll share just a few of her many accolades here (in case aliens land and happen to read this blog)!

A Spice Girl, TV and Radio Presenter, mum of two and also a judge known as an ‘architect’ on ABC’s new talent show Boy Band, Emma is a total hero of mine so it’s a real honour to interview her on the blog about her work and life. She’s a complete mumboss (and loved that term when I shared it with her)!

…Emma has also launched Kit & Kin which she co-founded after two years in development with a debut range of premium performance, bio-degradable nappies out now, and a must-have skincare line too.

Her talents are literally limitless!

Describe a typical day for you?

I’m always up very, very early, even before my children are awake, which isn’t always easy! I head straight to Heart FM, and do my breakfast show which I love. I laugh a lot with co-presenter Jamie Theakston, we have such a great time and banter so much with each other. It’s been a bit of a dream job actually, because usually I can get all my meetings done during the day and I’m back home in time to pick the boys up from school.

We’re usually pretty busy with after-school activities but we always make sure to eat dinner together as a family, and once the boys are in bed it’s time to get myself sorted! I love a bath just before I go to bed, I love to have that bit of me-time to really relax and turn off from the day.

What’s in your handbag/satchel?

Always a hairbrush! I’m always touching up my appearance on the go so that’s an essential, as well as some make-up: a mascara which is usually by Eyeko, blusher and a bit of gloss. I like to keep the Kit & Kin Magic Salve in my bag for whenever I get dry hands or lips. It’s a little godsend really – for me and the boys.

What do you wish you’d known at the start of your career you now know?

I wish that I had known how fast it was all going to go. My Spice Girls days just whizzed by, we were on tour and travelling around all different countries and my memories of where we were went and all the incredible things we achieved feel like a bit of blur. Sometimes I wish I could take some of that time back and write everything down!

Even now as a mum, I’m still always thinking, ‘They’re growing up so fast!’ but I’m learning to appreciate every moment and really take it all in.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I don’t even know where I see myself next week! (laughs). That’s one of the hardest questions for me, because I just don’t know! I love the fact that my other half Jade and I have always just seen where life takes us – we just love to enjoy life, and whatever it throws at us.

What advice would you give a budding singer/presenter and entrepreneur?

Work hard! It’s so important to put your all in to everything you do. During my Spice Girls days, it was so important for us to be able to write our own music, and really put our own stamp on everything we produced. I love that my presenting work on Heart is completely unscripted too, it allows me to be so open and honest.

And in launching Kit & Kin with my amazing business partner Christopher Money, we have been able to produce something we really believe in. That’s the greatest piece of advice I can give really – just always stay true to yourself in everything you do.

Finally, happiness is…

Happiness is my kids. When I’m with them, whatever we’re doing – be it playing in the sunshine or putting them to bed – they just bring me so much joy.

More about Kit & Kin

Two years in development, Kit & Kin has been co-founded by Emma, who, through her own experiences as a parent, was inspired to create a responsible brand that offers families safe, eco-friendly and affordable products that are not only beneficial for you but beneficial for the environment too.

The range also features a nourishing and natural core skincare line: both for baby, with hair and body wash, magic salve, body oil, bubble bath and for mother, with stretch mark oil and breast balm.
