We Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside

Ox Pasture Hall Hotel-Honest MumTwo weeks ago, we headed to the stunning Ox Pasture Hall Hotel for a little weekend break by the sea.

You can read our review HERE-warning you’ll want to either get a train or move to Yorkshire immediately and you’ll feel rather hungry too (sorry)!

The Yorkshire countryside is breathtaking-I’m not surprised Lonely Planet voted it the 3rd must-see place in the world… and we live here too in Leeds!

Alexander-Honest Mum

alexander-Honest MumSituated in Scarborough, the luxurious hotel was minutes away from the sea so we spent a lot of the weekend wandering along the beach for some reinvigorating sea air, fun donkey rides for the kids and succulent seafood at the seaside!

Autumn-Honest MumI tucked into lobster on the seafront in Scarborough below as we watched the waves and we were so lucky to baske in the gorgeous Autumnal sunshine in October!

Alexander dropped his cone-looks rather artistic!

Oliver wrote his name all on his own, in the sand. Proud!

Drawing in the sand-Honest MumThe following day, we headed to the Filey Bird Garden and Animal Park where the kids could feed goats and ponies and play on swings…and how wonderful is this huge blackboard below, encouraging outdoor learning too!

beach-Honest MumNext, we headed to the beach in Filey for the first time and something crazy happened- as we strolled along the sea front taking in the stunning vista (expansive, untouched acres beach), I literally bumped into my twitter friend Sue T whom I’ve met once before (when she ate at one of my folk’s restaurants The Olive Tree with her gorgeous kids)-it was so fun to see charismatic Sue and so randomly too!

We were due to meet the week before and had to cancel but seemingly the sea gods had a rendez vouz in store for us after all!

As we parted ways, the kids bounded towards the donkeys, desperate for a ride.

Oliver’s donkey was called William and Alexander’s, Alexander-even stranger, a lady who follows me on my blog’s FB page commented on the donkey pic I posted, that her daughter was in fact pulling the boys along! It really is a small (online) world isn’t it?!

The boys relished their donkey rides (Peter and helped prop their backs up so they felt more secure) and once off, they darted towards the tiny fairground rides at the bottom of the beach. It felt like our private playground and Oliver and Alexander were among only a couple of other kids bouncing on the bouncy castle and enjoying the rides in the afternoon sun!

I must note there is nothing tacky about Filey, it actually reminded me of the South of France, sea for as far as the eye can see, minimal (and spotless) shop fronts on the beach with a only a few rides at the end of the promenade so the view is all yours to behold!

It truly is an idyllic day out for all the family (especially when the sun is out) and a place we’ll be returning to soon! Wonder who’ll we’ll bump into next!
