Welcome back to Creative Lives, a feature which shares the experiences of inspiring men and women leading exactly that: creative lives. This series is dedicated to those working in the media and the arts, creating, communicating, touching and transforming. In this interview, I'm speaking to the uber-talented celebrity hairstylist Jason Collier, someone whom I also have the pleasure of calling a great friend too.
Going on holiday and the proceeding weeks (not my usual regular shoot after shoot kind of weeks) have led me to a realisation, somewhat of a (hair) epiphany, if you like. I LOVE my locks WILD like my spirit!
I'm often asked if my hair is fake or not, so when the Daily Mail got in touch asking if I'd like to appear in a feature on real hair vs hair extensions it seemed like a fitting opportunity! Eagle-eyed followers will spot me in print and on the homepage of Femail today!
We had a completely epic week away in half term...read more to find out more about our London adventure!
Those who follow my blog, know that hair is my THING and I'm forever experimenting with new hairstyles alternating between what I've termed 'Hollywood waves' and Rapunzel curls (according to my kids) to poker straight locks.
Last September saw me hot foot it to London for a shoot with Red Magazine for a digital campaign with Superdrug showcasing the store's new in house brand: B. Make up and Skincare.
When I attended the Harrods' Christmas press preview in July, I was lucky enough to meet hair stylist to the stars and Creative Director of Urban Retreat, Harrods, Andrew Barton. Charming Andrew kindly invited me into the salon during our chat, promising me a beautiful blow dry and it certainly did not disappoint!.
Even with two kids to look after and a crazy busy blogging career, I always find time to style my hair! It's pretty high maintenance so there's no option there and you know what, my hair is my thing, I reckon.
It’s incredibly easy to lose track of how much you’re spending when shopping, believe me, I know!
Christmas in July might seem a little bit bonkers to those not in PR, but trust me, it makes total sense for brands to spend this summer month showcasing erm, what's in store, in store, this Christmas!
We're having a bit of a 90's revival in our house right now, reflecting on the good ol' days thanks to YouTube, as I take my kids down memory lane and some of the best telly EVER made. I'm so pumped, I've very nearly drawn a Cindy Crawford style beauty spot above my lips in excitement.
PinterestLondon is always a whirlwind for me, and last Wednesday was no exception. Taking my Mum along for a rare night away and quite the party (more of that soon), I had some exciting meetings by day (as always, I'll reveal more when I can)- as we made our way through chic coffee shops in Farringdon to the place I call home in the city, Charlotte Street Hotel, a bustling yet relaxing hub where meetings can turn to dinner easily, and being so close to Soho and the production company I have a TV series in development with, makes it the ideal place for my blogging and TV career to meet.
What I got up to and bought on the weekend...
My hair was poker straight until I hit 13 and my hormones went, well a bit well hormonal and turned my sleek locks curly! The exact same thing happened to my Mum so it must be hereditary so in all honesty, I don't really know if I'm naturally straight or curly. I suppose I'm naturally curly now but there are days my hair is straighter producing waves rather than curls...an enigma! Anyway, I often get asked how I achieve my curls and when I'm not getting my all time favourite blow dry (I call it the Hollywood wave), I have a series of go-to hero hair products to keep frizz at bay and curls enhanced and pretty at home!
