As women, born, raised and living in the Western world we are so incredibly fortunate.

A fact many of us take for granted – I know I do.

It’s incredibly easy to get caught up in our so called ‘First World Problems’.

Traffic jams, broken boilers and impending deadlines all pale into insignificance compared to many womens’ lives in the developing world, for whom war, poverty and disease is a daily reality.

If you are keen to support women in these situations, one of the ways you can do something to make a difference is by rocking one the super cool tops from the Blogzine Selfish Mother.

The brainchild of  Molly Gunn, a writer and co-founder of Million Tees,  these ‘Mother’ tees and sweaters are all about ‘showing solidarity for the global sistahood.”

And not only are these tees helping a good cause, they’re pretty damn stylish too.

Here I am in my ‘Maman’ tee, which means ‘Mother’ in French.

Maman tee

So why in French?

Well the profits (a whopping 85%) from this Organic Cotton Tee are going to Help Refugees UK, a grassroots organisation that is doing incredible work on the ground for people in the Calais refugee camp, and on the Greek island of Lesbos, where asylum seekers are arriving everyday on perilously overpacked boats.

There are 4 different slogan tops in total: Maman, Human, Sista and the original slogan. Mother.

Mother Sista Human Maman

Profits from the ‘Mother’ and ‘Sista’ designs go to Women for Women International – a vital charity that helps women in 8 war-torn regions rebuild their lives through training programmes; while profits from the ‘Human’ design goes straight to The Refugee Council – who do brilliant work with asylum seekers in the UK and abroad, as well as tackling root causes & campaigning the government to change policies big & small.

The whole initiative has pretty much ‘broken the internet’ as women from across the world have come together to show their support and raise awareness by posting a snap of themselves wearing the tees and sweaters using the hashtag #MotherTee.

Even celebs Fearne Cotton, Denise Van Outen, Zoe Ball and many others along with tonnes of kick ass bloggers (shout out to one of my beautiful blogging besties Uju of Babes About Town below and other blogging mates Amy of Mr and Mrs T Plus Three and Steph from Don’t Buy Her Flowers) have got involved.

Fashion and charity? Sounds exactly like my cup of Earl Grey!
