Blogging is just so varied and stimulating and well, never (ever) boring, and I can’t fully express in words (but I’ll try) just how much I love working with the exquisitely refined baby and maternity brand The Essential One. It really is a dream collab for me.

The Essential One kindly dressed my second son Alexander as a baby (from birth in fact) starting a long and close relationship which recently culminated in me becoming the face and ambassador of the brand. What an honour. Wow.

I always hoped I could work with brands I admired in this capacity and blogging has seen these dreams come to fruition for me.

I must note too that my most beloved baby clothes of Alexander’s, even now, are by The Essential One, they effortlessly epitomise style and quality and are exactly how I imagined I would dress my baby when he was but a twinkle in his Daddy’s eye.

But back to the film and the present day, when just over a week ago I set off to Bolton to The Essential One’s HQ for a very special little project to shoot the first in a series of style films I am presenting for the brand, showcasing their latest pieces as they drop darling!

The Essential One

Here I am with pregnant model Joanna and inspiring entrepreneur and founder of The Essential One, Karen. The minute I met Karen several months ago, we clicked, and I knew we’d work brilliantly together.

A visionary, Karen has many years experience heading kidswear for some of the UK’s biggest brands and The Essential One is her baby, and it’s thriving.

It quite simply is a joy working and learning from Karen and being a tiny part of the Essential One story. These guys feel like family.

Karen knows and cares about classic enduring style for both mother and baby, that will always and importantly be comfortable for both.

Using the finest of materials, her collection literally does what it says on the tin and offers essential pieces for your own and your child’s capsule wardrobes.

So, taking my own mother, my Momager (haha) with me for the shoot day, together with Joanna and Karen we got to filming some of my most favourite essential items from the new A/W collection, out in August, which I styled up into key looks from a relaxed day look, to work style and occasion wear too.

Versatile, super soft, flattering and always effortlessly chic, these garments are must-haves for stylish mamas-to-be everywhere.

And the beauty is, these clothes will work for women post-birth and if nursing too, and will also last from one pregnancy to the next. Perfect.

Here are some action shots from the day-

modelThanks to the shoot, I now have serious bump envy and would like another baby please. This is The Essential One effect! I just need to convince the husband (hi Peter if you’re reading, no pressure).

..Making the video was so much fun, I just love doing my thang on shoot days, it’s my ‘home’ really, after so many years behind the camera directing, with a long held dream of getting in front!

I relished every second from styling the looks with Karen to my ‘pieces to camera’ and collaborating with the gorgeous Joanna who I had a natural chemistry with.

Working on such a stellar, tight set with a 3 camera set up in the coolest of shabby chic warehouse style backdrops is going to make for a super slick and hopefully inspiring and useful video.

I can’t wait to see the final film and when I do, I’ll be sharing it right here on the blog of course, so watch this space. Literally!
