Superdrug shoot

(Quick phone shot, dress by Topshop)

Last September saw me hotfoot it (or you know, catch the train) to London, for an exciting assignment with one of my all-time favourite glossies, Red Magazine!

The shoot was part of a digital campaign with Superdrug showcasing the high street store’s beautiful new in-house brand: ‘B. Make up and Skincare’.

You can check out the post over on Red’s site HERE.

I wanted to share more about the behind-the-scenes, and also my obsession with the collection over here.

When I found out Red and Superdrug wanted to hire me for this brilliant campaign I was literally ecstatic.. I was a finalist and received an honourable mention at the magazine’s Red Hot Women Awards in 2009 as a TV Director and filmmaker (gaining coverage in print too), and I’m utterly OBSESSED with Superdrug- making this a dream collab for me.

I literally fell in love with the products the moment I tried them, and not a day goes by when I don’t actually them.

The B skincare and make up range is specially formulated to deliver results and each item does just that.

The day and night creams smell deliciously clean and fruity; they are thick and creamy just how I like them, and always leave my skin feeling nourished and soft.

The make-up is quick and easy to use ( I love the highlighter above), incredible quality and in a wide variety of shades to suit all.

Most of all, the whole range is cruelty-free and vegan too. Yay!

What you eat, as you know, is crucial to your skin and health, as are the products you use on your face and body.

Your skin is the biggest organ in your body so what you lather up, and in, is vital to your well being.

And this collection gets a big tick from me!

But back to the shoot and then I’ll take you through each product in greater detail-

On set

My day on set was super-relaxed and laid back, the whole creative team were on it but chilled and kind (it was positive vibes all round)- I even discovered the photographer and I knew mutual people- and it was such a quick, fun shoot.

One of the day’s highlights was definitely hanging out with super sweet and crazy-talented YouTuber, Make Up Artist and Mama, Carly Musleh who featured in last month’s print issue.

I loved her energy and we’ve stayed in touch, even meeting up in Newcastle since, and I hope to hang out with her again really soon….

What did I wear?

The stylist had chosen a red dress for me before I even got on set: the perfect choice for my complexion and this particular glossie too, of course!  I just wish I’d remembered to go buy and buy the frock afterwards! Not sure it’s still available now as the shoot was in mid September!

My Make-Up

My make up for the day was totally different to how I usually do it myself; it was a much more subtle, natural day look but I’m happy with how light and fresh it looks, an alternative to the bright red lips and smokey eyes I rock most days.

I will definitely be recreating it again.

The products

Here’s the low down of what I used on the day and since-

Pricing may vary due to special offers etc.

Melting Gel Cleanser

£6.99

Top Blogger Vicki of Honest Mum reviews Superdrug Melting Cleanser

A nourishing three phase formula which always leaves my skin soft to the touch, and supple.

I use this as part of my skincare routine to offer deep cleansing.

It even removes my eye make up. Brilliant!

Opthalmically and dermatogically approved, this gel is kind to skin and eyes while being a quick, effective cleanser.

Gently massage into the skin creating a cleansing oil then rinse off.

Anti-blemish Makeup Primer

£9.99

Anti-blemish Makeup Primer reviewed by Honest Mum

The first step to ensuring my make up stays put is thanks to this product and it offers anti-blemish action too.

I have combination skin and this is perfect for when my face is oiler, usually at times when hormones are a bit crazy or after long flights.

It really is the perfect base for me, lightweight so it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and it holds my make up in place-perfect for nights out or events where I need to look my best.

Sculpted Blush and Highlight Light (medium)

£10.99

This is such a hard working highlighter, I can’t remember life without it. A handy dual blush and highlighter in one, it creates a gorgeous rose colour to cheeks while also highlighting cheekbones in one swoop. Love it.

B Matte Red Lipstick

£7.99

Vicki of Honest Mum reviews B. Matte Red Lipstick Dita Red

A all-time red lipstick lover, this matte soft red is the perfect go-to lip colour to wake up my face every single day. I adore it.

Softer than my usual bolder red lip, this works so much better by day for me and I can build up layers of colours for a more striking look by night.

On the shoot, I also used the day and night creams (stage 2) for 30-40 year olds, thick and creamy but light, my skin has never felt smoother. (£11.99 each).

What a wonderful day!

My life as a blogger is always so creative, stimulating, and most of all fun!

Thanks Superdrug and Red for making it so special.
