COSMO Restaurant Review

date night-Honest Mum

On last week’s date night, Peter had to share me with 8 others (hey, not like that you naughty ones at the back)…we were invited along with several other food bloggers to review new Leeds eaterie COSMO which opened in November 2013…

The outside is pretty unassuming, in fact it doesn’t even look like a restaurant from the street, more plush office premises than busy eaterie but they’re working on establishing their brand identity from the exterior so it’s in hand!

…Once those sturdy wooden doors open, you’re instantly transported into a tranquil haven, more five star hotel than banquet restaurant with the real wow factor hitting you once you descend into the basement and find yourselves in a HUGE glitzy restaurant which seats over 200.

So chic (forget the banquet restaurants you’ve seen before, this is a cut above the rest), all ambient lighting and minimalist decor with station after station (after station) of self service buffets tempting you with every cuisine under the sun (literally) from Pan Asian to Japanese, Italian, Brazilian and more…

My husband and I tried to sample as much as possible (in the name of honest journalism of course!) and took it in turns to take the pictures but even we couldn’t manage every country offered and mostly stuck to Chinese (he) with dumplings and grilled tuna, and Japanese (me)-hello more sushi and sashimi than I’ve ever enjoyed before.

Fresh, delicate and truly delicious dishes bursting with flavour and filling too (helps to have unlimited food), hats off to Cosmo for seriously good food.

The manager brought me this specially made Chinese and chilli chicken dish just for me below which was perfectly tender and oh so pretty…I felt very spoilt!

My sweet-toothed husband devoured the desserts, particularly the pretty petit fours and the triple flavoured ice cream!

dessert station-Honest Mum

As you can see the dessert station can only be described as epic-almost a little overwhelming for some. The delicate cakes are delightful and our party of bloggers adored them but I did feel the chocolate fountain (however alluring) and jelly babies in bowls felt a little too Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and not enough Oscar winning Chocolat, especially as Cosmo have positioned themselves as more up market than their competitors!

They will appeal to your kids though, that’s for sure!

I was annoyingly virtuous feasting on a pretty bowl of fresh fruit (the perfectly ripened melon and black grapes meant I didn’t feel left out though)!…erm OK, maybe just a little bit! Look at those bad boys below!

Cosmo couldn’t offer decaf coffee or herbal teas either so hopefully they will add these to their menu as with so much choice elsewhere, this was a little surprising…

…The restaurant is perfect for dining with kids who don’t like to wait for their food and those short of time. Cosmo was packed with parties and would be a great choice for girly get together’s especially for those who can’t agree on cuisine-here you can have them all!

A fun night out, amazing service (nothing was too much trouble) and so much choice. We loved it!

…One more dessert pic for luck-don’t say I never treat you! Wow!
