A Day At Wimbledon with Robinsons

Vicki and best friend Rebecca at Wimbledon

Saturday was quite the exciting day as my best friend Rebecca and I, hotfooted it to Wimbledon for a special day with Robinsons, a brand I’ve worked with for years.

Robinsons had invited us for a day in their suite at Wimbledon and kindly gave us Centre Court tickets to watch the matches on that day too. We caught Ernests Gulbis play Novak Djokovic as well as the women’s singles beforehand with Agnieszka Radwańska and Timea Bacsinszky playing. The atmosphere is calm but no less electric than you’d imagine on screen with the audience mesmerised, watching with baited breath.

Tennis is such a beautiful game and one I’ve played since I was 6 years old when I famously asked my teacher how long it would take me to get to Wimbledon. Well, it took 30 years!!!

Here in a Centre Court selfie!

Attending felt even more special as I was there just a few weeks ago as I’d been filming with Tim Henman OBE, interviewing him about his inspirational career and my family and I along with a group of bloggers, were also privy to a tour behind-the-scenes at Wimbledon too. You can read all about it HERE.

Robinsons has a rich and long history with Wimbledon-a whopping 82 years long history in fact, with their lemon barley water first being created in the changing rooms at the championships in 1932!

Eric Smedley Hodgson was the inventor behind the drink. He concocted it using water, barley, lemon juice and sugar. It went down so well that he was invited back to every game during tournament. In 1935, Robinsons Barley Water went into commercial production and returned to Wimbledon by the umpire’s chair, where it has been every year since.

The lemon barley is my favourite flavour too and it kept us cool on the day in between bubbles!!

Robinsons remains one of the few brand names permitted on Centre Court and what we love so much about them is all their products contain real fruit in every drop.

So, what did we eat and drink?

lunch in the Robinsons suite at Wimbledon

The feasting in full swing. It was lovely to meet Harriet from Toby and Roo.

Don’t hate me but along with delicious Robinsons, we enjoyed champagne, Pimms, a divine lunch of blue cheese and beetroot salad and poached salmon with crème fraîche and new potatoes, plus afternoon tea after watching the tennis… It was such a wonderful and much appreciated treat as I had just completed the first draft of my book #Mumboss (all 70,000 words of it) making it the perfect way to celebrate this massive milestone.

What did I wear?

Honest Mum wears a Jacques Vert dress at Wimbledon

This stunning soft lace dress with pleats of course (well, it was Wimbledon) c/o Jacques Vert. So effortlessly chic, I paired it with a Ralph Lauren jacket (above), shows I designed myself (ooh la la) and tassel earrings from Zara.

What an ace day! Wimble-done! Sorry (I know my Dad will find these puns hilarious at least!)
